Dam* you EA! :scream:

Read! Here (http://sports.ign.com/articles/573/573544p1.html)

They knew they couldn't compete with Sega, as far as the NFL2K games go, so they went and offered the NFL and the Players Assoc. an offer they couldn't refuse... this sucks, seriously.

More and more people were realizing that the Sega Football games were better than the EA one's... now the few EA (Madden) loyalists remaining will never get the chance to convert... uhhh, you know what I mean. :a:

Hmm that is bad EA dont have a reputation of making good games...

That's no competition for the Xbox 2 or PS3, no NFL 2K6 or 2K9 for that matter
That means they can turn over any pulp they want and people will have to buy for the latest game ... sad really they are becoming a mini microsoft :(

Well not only did they take over the football area but if you read some new articles from the past about 10 days you will see that EA is buying considerable shares of other video game companies, (around 19%). They are going to be like microsoft and cover the whole of the field ^_^ MONOPOLIZATION >_< www.gamespot.com for all your gaming news ^_^

I played FIFA over the years but I have seen Pro Evolution to be much better whilst playing on PS2. The features and definite feel of the game is deeper and I seem to have quite enjoyed it more. Pro Evolution is of course Winning 11, small smell different name. EA's buyout... really unfair, really.

That's funny, I didn't even think they made good games. Did you see what they did with the Bond franchise? They publish some good games, like BF 1942, and etc, but they didn't actually make those.

EA are alright, the Need for Speed seris are great.

EA aim their games at a family audience (compared to say, Rockstar, who aim theirs at older audiences), which is probably why some people dislike them. They do make some pretty sweet games tho, and EA is one of, if not the biggest games company around.

If EA are so rubbish then how did they get all this money that allows them to create a "monopoly" (my butt)?

EA mostly only make their sports titles in house and those seem to sell pretty well. Otherwise they wouldn't release a new one every year.

Buying out the licence is just EA's way of keeping their game sales up. I'm certain that if EA hadn't stepped in first some other company would have bought out that licence. It's just smart marketing if you ask me.

No flaming please.

Peace

i have to say that im suprised that anyone would say EA is not a great gaming company.

ok lets break it down...

EA sports: (the one is question) :: they basically revolutionized the gaming industry back in the early 90s with title like "international soccer" and "nba live" where there only close competitior was kick-off (sweet game though) and im not even sure what basketball game was near nba-live. oh nba jam maybe. lol

EA : where do you start... NFS-underground 1 and 2 are just two titles that many game companies would love to have in their portfolio.. dont forget the sims...

EA-Big: Nba Steet 1. 2 and 3 (which is looking crazy nice) nfl street .....

even with that short list of recent and some old games its obvious that EA is no crap gaming company, far from it.

ok with that said , i have to admit i have converted to PES (pro evolution soccer 3 and oh man 4 is so sweet) because its just basically a better game than fifa. but if it wasnt for ea, easports actually, the quality of games would of been no where near they are now.

the only thing missing in pro evolution soccer is the rights to players names and the rest of the worlds teams... (they have rights to english league and spanish league, so they are half way there).

I just hope that things like this dont eliminate Konami, it would be a real shame to a prospering game and gaming company.

until Goldeneye 007, basically all games based on movies sucked. EA made the first step. EA has Burnout 3. Easily the best arcade racing game. They also have NFS and NFSU series, easily the best realistic racing games in their own categories. Everyone likes Sega, but why do they need to call it "ESPN"? You might say, well, EA calls theirs Madden, throwing out big names, but EA might even change their name. Read more here (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/12/17/news_6115293.html). That would be good, cause Madden's commentary is worse than a William Shatner album.

I don't care what the name is...

but what I mean is, everyone is saying Sega, as if that alone would make it the best game. So why not say "Sega Football" or whatever...hearing ESPN, well, it just doesn't do it for me

But then again, I grew up on Madden. Anything else would make me feel like a traitor.

You know what, too, guys? Look at your video game collection. Nearly 30% of my games have the big ol' EA logo on there...how about yours?
