I have another thread here (http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79374) about the design, but now that the registration / login, adding colours, rating colours, and commenting are complete....
... I need colours to start being added and users so I can have some content to build out the other sections.

Thanks, PR.
I figure... this is going a to be a good place for designers to get some links to their work. (SEO links)

Saru, more of an answer to that is in my other thread, but...
Well nobody gets what this is without a pretty long explanation, but hopefully after it gets completed it will be easy to figure out.
The basic idea is to merge, hotornot.com with deviantart.com - but it's only a rating showcase for colors...
...Like you would submit a new color with the hex codes, a summary of what you used the color for, where you got your inspiration...
Other people browse the color swatches and rate what colors are hot.
You can also put a few of your submitted colors into a pallete. say you used 3 colors for a design and really liked the combination. you would enter in all 3 colors then link them.
The idea is to create a color resource for designers, to see what colors are "in", new, work well with other colors... a color inspiration place.

or
www.colorlovers.com for my American people
I only started tonight and it's going to take me some serious code writing to get this baby up, but take a look. let me know your thoughts.

hey, i think you need to allow room for users to delete colours they submit. For example, i made a crimson kinda colour, but when i submitted it i realised there was already a really similar one, so i would like to delete mine. I think this would be an important feature, even though *usually* people wouldn't need to delete them.
also, in the profile bit where you can view your different colours and palettes and things, you've spelt colours wrong (coulours) :)
but it's looking good :)

iLikePie,
I did think about allowing people to delete colours, but I don't like the end user having that much control... ie they delete a colour and also the comments, the votes....
And while you posted a crimson similar to PR, it is a different color and will have a different effect on people the one PR posted. Color viewing is very subjective and the idea here is to see what people in general like in a color.
**Cheers on the spelling bit too.

yeah i spose you're right... it would be a pain to look for a favourite colour someone submitted only to find that they've deleted it.
i'm really impressed with how quickly it's all coming together! The palettes bit is what i'm REALLY looking forward to :D

yeah that will be what takes the site to the next level... I still ahve a few things to figure out, like if you only can use your own colours to make a palette and somebody else is the one who uploaded one of the other colors in your palette...?
I may just have to limit the palettes to some max number and then just create drop downs for each number and you can select the colours from any on the site...
If I didn't have to travel for the next 4 days I'd have that down very soon.

This is such a great idea Ethan/Darius/prettyboy I hope it takes off and becomes THE colour site on the web.
I signed up and added 5 colours. Enjoy.

Such a brilliant, yet simple (and already useful) idea.
Just a few things:
I haven't signed up yet (I'm horrible with colors), but is there something to make sure people don't accidentally submit a color that's already there? It could get confusing when there gets to be hundreds of colors.
On the "All Colours" page, the numbers don't descend consistently. Numbers 47, 46, 43, 30, 27, 3, 2, and 1 are missing. (deleted?)
On that same page, the links to the page of the author of a color has a missing '&':
For example, the link ends with: index.cfm?section=lovers&view=displaylover=29
when it should be: index.cfm?section=lovers&view=display&lover=29
That's all I could find. But again, that's such a great idea! One of those "Why didn't I think of that?" ones.
Hope it helps! :cowboy:

Yes there is error checking to not allow for the same colour to be added twice.
On the "All Colours" page, the numbers don't descend consistently. Numbers 47, 46, 43, 30, 27, 3, 2, and 1 are missing. (deleted?)
Yes the all colours page is listing the colour ID numbers, but since some colours were deleted... there are missing numbers.
On that same page, the links to the page of the author of a color has a missing '&':
For example, the link ends with: index.cfm?section=lovers&view=displaylover=29
Fixed that, thanks!
