Looks nice - it looks almost as bad (or as good) as the U2 iPod ;)

ok, it doesn't look the best, but:

Nothing original. :(

is wrong. you can connect other mp3 players, digital cameras and stuff to it directly and access them like you would with a computer.

when you connect it to your computer, it identifies itself as an external hdd.
and it can play movies !! not many mp3s can do that - not without forking out a £200 more for a media player.

that's pretty cool stuff. i could even watch pr0n in the middle of town if i wanted to. lol !

iPods can do that... and have been able to for years.

I've never used an iPod, but I have an iRiver H120, and as far as I know (I may be wrong), the iRiver players are more like an external HD than are the iPods. Can you drag and drop files with an iPod? When you plug an iRiver in to your computer, it shows up as any other drive, and I don't know any operation you can do to a regular HD that can't be done to the iRiver's HD.

When it comes to MP3 Player, iRiver has the highest quality. Very reliable and worth every penney.

I couldn't find WMA listed specifically, but their site said something like "other types also!", so I'm wondering if WMA qualifies as other types also.

I don't mind its looks. I wouldn't be parading my MP3 player on my forefinger or on my forehead like some of the people I know in the real world. As long as it plays music, I'm happy!

EDIT: Nevermind - it does support WMA. I just didn't look hard enough :P This is really good then. I had been considering getting the Dell DJ 2nd generation one, but this seems like a good buy also.

Pretty much all of them can do that [the whole hard drive thing] ;)

If I had to get one, I'd get the iAudio M3 (http://www.jetaudio.com/products/iaudio/m3/) - it can play the FLAC format, which is what all my music is in (as well as other less superior formats like WMA, but nevermind).

One thing I must ask is, do these companies really think that their names are original?

iPod became popular, and a few years later we see the iRiver and the iAudio... what gives?

The 'i' isn't just the iPod, it's what Apple use for most of their products, iMovie, iPhoto, iCal, iChat, iDVD, iMac, iBook.

Other companies copy the i becuase Apple are raking in alot of money with the iPod (75% market share).

You cannot put music on the iPod without drivers or iTunes, but you can on the iRiver. I own an iPod, but i know many that have iRivers.

I don't know if that post was directed at me, but if it was:

Of course I know that there are other Apple products that start with a lower case "i" ! I happen to have quite a few of them in my house. Now I need an ugly smiley to insult you with...

Yes but you asked why other companies are using the i, so I was pointing out that alot of Apples products use the i, and companies like the idea which makes Apple money.
