aah you changed the logo. I really dont like the long tails. But the splash is of a minimal style that is always a cool (safe) thing to do.

Can you please get a screen shot or something, because, here, i have a color picker in my browser, and checked it, the pic and the background color are same man. Its exactly the same, i.e. :sigh: : #2B3737. Confused man.

Yay neil! but one thing:
margin-top = 0px
I don't like the little space you have at the top of the splash. And contrary to what nathan says, I like the tails... at least with the splash page. It breaks up the space a little in my opinion. I think without the tails, it would be too Blah with just fonts...

Can you please explain me , what is a splash? lol, i'm really like a n00b in html. Also what do you mean by margin-top = 0px ? , i am using dreamweaver. please someone guide me to a really neat and perfect title page. Appreciate your comments DDD, pixi, Kris. Thanks a lot to pwh2 for pointing out that the color difference. It seems that its the same in firefox, but in IE (i think), #2b3737 is not supported. So I changed everything to #2B3636. :). I  this color :).
Help me out Kris. :D

oh and dont use .png's for your graphics. They are not a web standard and will view differently on all setups. Use .jpg.

Man, jpg sucks , it chages the backgroud color of the image , when i publish it with 100 quality, It changes the color from 2b3636 to 2b3737. :(. But i found a way around it. I published as gif ;). It works like a charm :D
By the way , check this out : www.phyq.com , with a new "slogan" :sen:
Thanks DDD

Ok neil within Dreamweaver do this:
Modify > Page Properties (or cmd+J if you are on a Mac) > On the pallet that comes up, put 0 for top margin
HOWEVER, I see with the new design, you took out the darger background color (unless that was the error with the whole .png thing) Either way, I thought it looked good, lol. What the margin thing did though was put it snug up to the top of the browser viewing area - a tangency. Would have made it look like it was coming straight down.

out of curiosity why is your jpg so big? Using up precious kb's for nothing. Looks goo other than that. Actually jpgs are the way to go. For like 99.99% of your graphics that are not going to used in flash. Since gif are only 128 colors you will run into problems in the future. Just use a jpg with the page color and the bgrd color. Then use a small swatch of the bgrd color for the bgrd image in the table or body. That is a way to ensure continual color.

gifs can be up to 256, and I personally find them best for blending with backgrounds, just make the main colour transparent and unless your image is complex colourwise, which this one isn't, and providing you have dither on you'll get a seamless look.

Nope, sorry adriann. I side with 3D on this one :ub:

December 6th, 2004, 01:07 AM
yea you are right 256, but being that most monitors show colors in the millions why limit yourself. With a bit more planning jpg's are fine. Then you also dont have to worry about artifacts and mattes

plus aliasing and blending work better with jpgs over gifs... but that's because of what nathan just explained  :sure:

Ahhh phooey.
/me marks down "Kris Gosser" on THE LIST! "For spelling my name wrong at least twice and disagreeing with me" ;P
Hehe, actually the truth is I use jpgs/gifs about 50/50 in these situations. Gifs are easiest, but do not always produce satisfactory results. The simpler the image the better the chances.

Well there isnt much to comment on at this early stage except that the logo looks pretty sweet, although like someone else said I dont like how the 2 Y's turn into blades, I liked one the version of that logo when it was just 2 Y's with out the blades. The site works perfect also in my firefox browser, colours math etc. Look forward to seeing more..

I was just asking because she was called Erin for a nickname, and it'd be suprising to call a guy Aaron that way. Just checking Nathan.
If I remember correctly 3D, I have a hot date wtih my lovely lady on friday, what do you got?
Plus this would quell the accusations that her site looks too "fairy"
