Howdy,

I am going to be at the family house for the next 4 weeks and I want to add my wireless router to the router that is already in the house.

I have spent quite a bit of time messing around and nothing seems to be right. I have a linkysys wired router currently serving the house and want to add my netgear router to it. We have attbi service.

Okay, so the Netgear is the wireless router right? Okay, does it have out ports? Better, what's the model #. I suggest just shoving the wireless router right onto the wired.

Netgear is the wireless and is Model #MR814v2

I have tried taking a cable coming out of one of the ports on the wired router and plugging it into the input slot on my wireless router, but that's not working. I think it is because my router is also trying to use some kind of DHCP thing it is not working. I read somewhere that I should get into the wireless router and set the IP address to be one of the IPs that the static is putting out, but I'm not sure of all the specifics for this.

If your Netgear router has output, try just replacing the Linksys with Netgear all by itself.

Ugh. Dual routers are UGLY. I'd suggest sticking one in a "switch" mode, where it turns off it's DHCP / IP distributing functions.
