In English class in school, I'm doing a persuasive speech on why our school should have Linux web servers. (Currently using Windows 2003 Servers)

Part of the requirements for the speech is that we have to have some quotes from people who have knowledge in the field of our subject...

So if you could, just post some things about your experiences with Linux servers, as opposed to Windows ones.

Thanks!

Linux servers a re case sensitive and that runs a muck when you are moving files over from a windows server, if people haven't been sticking exactly to cases.

Linux servers support chmod more easily (I'm not sure what the equivalent is on the xp servers are, but in xp pro you have to edit the registries to get it). Also, it's more secure, and is open-source. Case sensitivity matters of course. I also like how on apache and linux, you can run everything together with no problems, like ASP, PHP, MySql, Perl, CGI, and the list goes on.

How's that?

Linux is extremely stable, especially when compaird to the quite unstabled Windows operating system. In an environment where uptime is crucial, Linux provides a significant advantage over Windows. For example, Windows servers need to be restarted every few days, causing downtime, where as Linux servers can run flawlessly for months straight.
