Yeah, I regret that mistake.....my bad :( Hopefully, the next go-around, I'll try to fix these and other kinks in the process. I am not sure, but I think the next competition might be a footer contest? How does that sound? It appeals to both beginners and advanced users and graphic designers. I'll have all of your opinions on it in about a month or so after this contest concludes.

Footers are the signatures you see under peoples posts.

Well if it is just text is is called a signature, but if it is a flash file or image, it is called a footer.

I would assume the contest would be creating Flash Footers though, not just graphics. Not sure though...we will figure that one out later.

I think Kirupa stated somewhere in this thread, that the contest would be for graphic designers too...

I guess it's only fair to include all kinds of footers, animated or not...

As long as it is a footer, it counts :P

Regarding the FLA files, should they be put into the open source section of the site so people can find out and learn from each other?

I will be having a footer competition soon, but it won't be next week or anything lol. I will probably start it sometime next month or so, but don't start submitting now!

I'll voice my opinion, which won't be very popular with some, but here it goes. I don't think that supersatori's entry is really qualified to win/enter this particular contest. Don't get me wrong, the work is impressive, but I fail to see how this is grid work. All other entries have code that focuses on some sort of action with the grid itself. I thought that was the purpose of the contest.

Sorry, Satori. This is not a personal attack. I would personally vote for you if the contest was about some other form of actionscript.

the rules say
The central focus is a grid. The animation should contain a grid and some cool effects using it or surrounding it. so I just made a spider walking on a grid :)
there's a grid and a (sort of) cool effect so IMHO it's enough ;)
because you see, basically it's much harder to create grids walking on spiders, but I can give it a try if you wish me to :)

As for the grid walker, if you kept your mouse in the upper left hand corner everything worked great.

It's probably because you need an account with kirupaforum to vote. If multiple votes were prevented by ip tracing and you don't need an account a lot more people will vote.

I think it's better to force people to have an account to vote AND to trace IP. Otherwise it would be much too easy to cheat :)
