I'm not to sure about Windows, but i know in the OS X version of FireFox there is a long delay when you start it up for the first time.
Do any of you know of a fix for this long pause? It can be pretty annoying esp. if you are just looking to see a page really fast, and its the first time you are booting up the browser (once it has been opened on that uptime, its fine).
If there is a fix let me know - if not then i just have to hope 1.0 fixes it!

Yep, it's the same for me on Windows. Dunno why, but i think the Firefox engine takes a long time to load. And i'm using 1.0PR

That's weird, I've never had that problem. It loads pretty much the same as IE for me. I've used Firefox on Win98, Win2k and WinXP, no Macs though.

Does putting programs in your quick launch tray make them load faster? I don't know if that is an urban legend or not, but you can try putting a shortcut to FF in your quick launch area in your toolbar, restart, and launch FF from there. It may make it load faster :bad:

erm...quick launch you say? Windoze users :P
I dont think it makes it any faster if you put it in the Dock either - because thats just like a shortcut (i think). I use Safari for the most part like i said - but this is annoying when you go to open it really fast for one thing.
