hmm... well I've got many favourites but I'm gonna post Mafia... It's not so much the gameplay/effects but it has got a perfect storyline and all the characters are fit in so good that it brings me tears into my eyes when I think of it... just so perfect... :*(

Its a hard question. A lot of the games listed so far are basically the best of their genre but how do you compare?

Of the given responses, I think Im leaning closest to pac man. It was an era defining game is still playable and fun today (I was showing off my skills on mrs pac man in arcade just a couple of weeks ago).

That isnt to say I wouldn't rather be playing zelda. ;)

Ms. Pac Man. I liked it way better then the original. I think maybe because she was a bit faster then he. And the TRACK AND FIELD POST IS A GREAT ONE. My fingers always hurt after playing that. The only place that had that game was the hockey arena. I spent many quarters there.

Digital, the reason why you probably hate the game is because it's got the biggest learning curve I've ever seen with a video game. You really dont get good (and thus enjoy it) until about 2000 minutes into the game. Trust me. It took me 2 years of it before I was good enough, now I'm still thoroughly enjoying it because I have 3 years under my belt, and I beat up on kids who just start the game. Big curve.

Nice game , well from the SS`s ive seen , but what i like most about the game is "that you are able to choose your way [good,evil]" kind of reminds me off Black and White :)

Mafia was the best game ever, everything about it is just so well done.

Pacman is also a quality game :P

Well i cant say which is the best game of all time but i can tell you which games changed my life and how i looked at videogames.

Nintendo Games: Zelda games, Metroid and Obviously who didnt love mario games, Ninja Gaiden

Sega Games: Shinobi series, Strider, Street Fighter series (my personal fav fighting game of all time), Shenmue, Last Battle, Legendary Axe theres more i cant remember

Turbo Grafx: Bonk, Blazing Lasers

PS Games: Final Fantasy 7 best RPG ive played ever, Metal Gear Solid best espionage game in the world still nothing compares to it yet, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil series (the daddy of survival horror :love: ) Gran Turismo series

XBOX Games: Burnout 3, Halo 1 & 2, Ninja friggin Gaiden best ninja action game ever imho, Fable great RPG but somewhat short, Def Jam NY great fighting game, Need For Speed Underground, theres more i cant put em all but these ive mentioned are the games that make me look at videogames and make me think WOW how the videogame industry has evolved and makes me excited thinking of what we will see in the future.

RTS: Age of Kings (Age of Empires 2)
RPG: Diablo 2
FPS: Unreal Tournament 2004
ConsoleFPS: Halo/Halo2

Tomb Raider: i still remember how awesome it felt to stand in front of the atlantis ruins with Lara back then (needless to say that the sequels never managed to get anywhere near that experience)

System Shock 2, Deus Ex: story meets action

Metal Gear Solid (PS): Kojima's best game so far

Final Fantasy VII: Graphics improved vastly till today but this one stands out to me, featuring the best video game villain ever: Sephiroth

Rise of Nations is pretty frickin' awesome.

There's a lot of good games out there.

strategy: any age of empires game (all expansions and games) or red alert 2 (including xpack) C&C Generals (only problem was online didn't suport dial up too well)

stealth: metal gear solid (number 1 for story and gameplay, 2 for gameplaay upgrades-story wasn't as good still great though)

fps: half life (including some mods eg CS), farcry, bf 1942 (esp with desert combat mod)

racing: burnout 1 (still haven't played 2 or 3 yet)

action game: GTA 3, GTA :vice city and soon, as of friday, GTA: SA

RPG: FF7, Diablo and dungen seige

Retro (games i played when i was like 4 through till like 10): Ski or Die, wolfenstine 3D, Doom 1&2 , fury 3, the incredible machine the original prince of persia.

All the Zelda games, Metal Gear Solid, and Tomb Raider would be hard for me to pick between.

I'll just go with Fear Effect 2 for ps2 since its the first game I ever played that had two animated chicks gettin nasty in an elevator.
