Ok say i write a contract for a client. Is there any way i can get them to sign it on the net, as in checking a checkbox or something like that. Or is it better to send it to them, have them print it out and sign it and then fax it back?

That is a tough one slow. I would suggest that if you can, get them to sign it on paper. The problem is that unlike a signature on paper, there is no standard for electronically signing something. For my staffing company, we have the clients approve timecards online instead of signing and faxing paper every week. But, before we set them up, we have them sign a paper contract that says they agree to be bound by the electronic version. So far, we have had no problems.

I think President Bush signed into Law a bill that made electronic signatures legal, but you'd have to google it to find out the details.
