array help

umm could somebody just explain what a array is i'm a noob to this and i have a idea of what it is but can someone just explain what it really does and what you can do with it

There are a lot of good articles/tutes on that site.... the pity is that it's poorly organized. I only found the Array tutorials because I knew the names of them and could run a search through their in-site search feature.
