im planning of making a sideview action game. Because i want to push things a little further i want to drop the use of basic sprite animation. Im aiming at getting fluent transitions between movements via AS. So instead of switching the walking animation to jumpinganimation, i want the legs moving to the beginning of a jumping animation(actionscripted) and then jump.
I hope my explanation is clear, has anybody tried this before? Any helpfull resources?

i think this would be a kind of dodgy approach, so u want to animate the legs with actionscript? i think this is a bad idea, cos all u would be able to do is rotate them a little back and forth, then rotate them alot.
i think ur best of doing it by animation, u can still make fluid movement, bump up the framerate and add more keyframes in between to make it look better. and u can still make the transitions between running/jumping just be careful how u code it

Yeah, I agree with Dr. Warm. Animation by actionScript is not the way to go, I tried it once, and it really stunk! I too suggest animating your character.
P.S. If you need help in your animation, I would be happy to give you some tips :).

peaceHmm not the answers i was hoping forr haha but thanks for the opinions. I already worked with traditional animation but i thought id push things on this project. Think it will be well difficult, but if i dont try i will never know.
