controlling one movie clip from another

What is the best way or controlling one movieclip from anoither. Pretty much want my menu and contentas two separate files but of course i need to contol my content from the menu. Any input would be great, Graeme

I think the best way to control content seperately is as externally loaded swf. The path thing gets a little complicated but once you understand how and why it works you can fly through it.
