After the biggest fears thread, all of the talk about creepy insects made me very hungr...I mean, intrigued. So, just out curiosity (and to sell to a marketing agency  ), which insect/animal/fish creeps you out the most?

Cheers!
Kirupa :P

The Japanese Hornet - It's about the size of an adults pinky finger. Scary as hell.

Any spider also..

I'm not scared of fish since I dont go in natural water much :P! I stay in the one that comes out of my shower...

Man those pictures freak me out -- i used to be deathly afraid of bees.

I dont know what they are called, but there are these moth things that are colored like rocks; a bunch of them were chillin moth style on a path somewhere on the appalachian trail in Vermont and when i got near, they flew at me and they tried like crazy to get in my ears!!! Fr!kkin scariest thing right there.

COC K ROACHES (stupid filter)

I hate 'em, they crunch when you crush them... ah!!!

and I don't really mind many other things, except of course, the tiny centipedes!

I guess he had problems with the c ock.

maybe filter ignores it in your post since you are female

Jeff Wheeler
July 22nd, 2004, 04:39 PM
it was because he had it with no space like cockroaches, but if you have **** roaches then it puts in the filter, like it just did :P

The filter is gender sensitive??? :h: If that's true, that's awesome.

One insect that makes me really angry are ladybugs. Especially with the bloody invasion of the yellow ones. It's insane.

Other than that, I've been somewhat scared of hornets ever since my sister "disturbed" a hornet's nest in our backyard and ran like mad all over the neighbourhood while they chased her. She was stung twice. And she was 6.

[EDIT] Ohhh.... for future reference, cockroaches doesn't have a space in it. :P

 I know I know. But I was just imagining what it would be like to have a gender sensitive filter. And it would be awesome, would it not? :P

Jeff Wheeler
July 22nd, 2004, 04:47 PM
but then I COULD say I was a girl and say **** roaches all day long without the silly filter :P

McGiver
July 22nd, 2004, 04:48 PM
yeah it would be :P
but since there are no fields where you enter your gender kirupa would have am lot of work finding out the members' gender.

hificopymaster
July 22nd, 2004, 04:50 PM
Well, maybe Kirupa's a closet AI geek, who set up a bot to read all of a user's posts and determine (based on word choice and sentence structure and statements like "I'm a female") what the user's gender is.

[EDIT] That's true bp, the "I'm a female" bit might throw things off when people start lying. :P Scratch that. I'm pretty sure the rest is possible. :)

Don't you think giraffes are scary? I mean, the way they just stand there, all... silent. It's like they're plotting something. And then they stick their tongues in your car at African Lion Safari (fellow Ontarians should know what I'm talking about).

did I mention that I am afraid of any person heavier than 130 kg walking on stairs over me.
I guess this is because a ~300kg women fell down the stairs on me when I was 8. (sure you all know the scene in Indiana Jones where this big stone is ralling through a corridor. The difference was that the fall of the fat woman was stopped abruptly after 2 rotations when she bruised my little brother and me against the banister.

Anyone else afraid of Horses?? Those things are 900 pounds of rock hard muscle. If by chance they grow opposable thumbs or decide they're meat eaters... we're all screwed.

Horses creep me out.

Liam, are giant octopuses carnivores?
oh god.. thats my new worst fear... scuba diving and being approached by a hungry giant squid!! Holy crap, that would be terrifying. Um... not that i scuba dive a lot or anything, hehe.
actually come to think of it, I was afraid of that for a while after i saw 10,000 leagues under the sea as a lil kid. EEK creepy, hadnt thought of that in a while.

spiders kinda creep me out. but not really. hardly really. wait. no. not at all.

flys and mosquitoes (canada's national bird :sigh: ) piss me off, but I don't think that counts.

I dunno really. I'll have to get back to you on this.

Must say that spiders sketch me out beyond all reason. Come to think of it, anything with more than four legs (or appendages, I guess, because octupi are freaky too) is iffy, more than six is just ... unacceptable. Wow, I freaked out during that Aragog scene in Harry Potter II ... I really really hope I'm not the only one.

I also have issues with eels, come to think of it. Especially those HUGE disconcertingly yellow ones that they have at the aquarium... *shudder*

Good thoughts to think of right before bed, I must say.
