Awesome 3D stuff and an active community. I know a few members here are also members there and would appreciate this thread.

REEF·
July 5th, 2004, 05:20 PM
Uh...no. There is hardly flash. The site is based on mostly 3D and his work ;).

It's like sayin, I don't like Kirupaforums, too much text, know what I mean?

yeah that 3d main page is GORGEOUS! Really creative navigation too - having to click on one of three people, and the intro signs for each section - really nice stuff.

No, actually I don't. Explain further please... as far as I can tell, if he used a 3D app, video app, and flash to make the site, how can it include something more? Thats like looking at a site thats made with PS and Flash and saying "just tooo much images and flash"

guess I need to explain myself, heh.

when i first visited this site, it first took me longer than any other flash site (using dial up here). granted it's flash and i need to get with the times (cable that is), but hey.. im in wisconsin. 'nuff said.

secondly, i just truely felt that there was no flow from a layout point of view. i do a lot with newspaper layouts / magazine layouts, and i'm partial to simplified layouts such as kirupa here. with that said, the technique he uses for navigation just didn't turn me on. just a personal preference and opinion.

don't get me wrong - his 3D work can be gorgeous. but the site as a whole just hasn't made me say "wow. one of my favorites of all time."

that's all :)

I (http://www.billybussey.com/) am sure most of you have seen this... and I bet it has been posted before. So excuse me if it has. But he is amazing. Although he doesn't have any work displayed online, I think his site speaks for it's self. I have talked to him on aim a number of times and he has shown me his stuff. --it's fine work. He also has some a nice forum for help and theenz.

And the URL is... http://www.billybussey.com

Billy Bussey is an amazing designer. I have seen and read his interview at Padesco. I liked what he said. Unforuntaely, his site isnt user-friendly for me ; the intergrated motion lags.

yeah, although I have seen it and Am still picking up the pieces of my blown mind from the floor, but it takes a good 10 minutes on my 56k to load. But I still love it. I only wish I had that kind of skill.

LOL, wait 10 minutes, and sure it looks GREAT but it doesn't actually have ANY content whatsoever! Is that good website 'design' ?!!

berkoWitZ
July 13th, 2004, 12:56 PM
IŽll be honest and sorry to say this, his skills are amazing but his site is not, in fact, I dont like it at all, his site should be like a cd presentation, so it doesnt have to load, its not worth the time and lags most of the time (and in good machines); again, his skills are almost perfect but..........

This has already been posted a week ago or so. I'm going to bump the old one.

At least go to page 2 when getting ready to post a site. Especially since this section of the forum has only been around for a few weeks.

Its a portfolio, it doesn't need to have content. A portfolio is for showing off your skills (which he obviously does well). His services section isn't complete though.

BTW: outside of the services section, where exactly is the lack of content?

REEF·
July 13th, 2004, 02:05 PM
Yea I agree with colin here on this one.

It doesn't matter how "bad" you think his site is or how much content he lacks. All that 3D he does makes up for it. No one can say he's not skilled at 3D because this guy is just pure talent. His fingers spit talent and so does that hat of his :P.

Anyways - about the lack of content. I'd understand that it was a lack of content if the 3D was just like one cube spinning all around. But he created a WHOLE interface with amazing detail just for you to look at ;).

this site is simply amazing, but as some other people said, it doesn't have the style I like, it jsut doesn't quite fit with the navigation if you know what I mean, but nonetheless, his skills are aweseom :P

July 13th, 2004, 03:43 PM
it's unbelievable how people can be biased because of that **** battle...

BB deserves his place on the net...
(alright his site does take ages to long and is really choppy..)

McGuffin
July 13th, 2004, 04:05 PM
That comes with the territory though. In the 3D category, he's miles infront of most. Maybe he's not the best designer, but thats not what he's showcasing. Should he limit himself because the majority of people have dial up? I don't think so, and he's getting tons of work = that speaks for itself.

I did say his site is absolutely amazing, but ever since the first time I saw it it seems a bit awquard

paddy.
July 13th, 2004, 04:16 PM
Great 3D but it lags soooo much. I still love the 3D stuff.

EDIT: Eh..., at the risk of sounding like a complete retard, how do you get to his forum?

chriskalani

If you IM him he will show you all of his stuff. He has some big clients, VERY big... You can IM him at any time of the day, he is usually there. Nice young man.

Welp, I am glad you liked it.
