My freind's father asked me to create a site for him that looks like this

http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/4669.html (the flash content)

I am above "newbie" status but bleow intermediate. So my question to you is how long would a person like me take to create this site? (bare in mind I only have free time because of the summer)

Well, Why not just tell your friend's father to buy that template? It's only 64 USD.

So i suppose that he doesn't want to spend that much. He wants to spend less paying you to recreate that rather than buying it. If you don't decide to rip it completely (taking screencap), it'd probably take 10 hours or so to make it. Plus you have to code it, make the flash, and the different modifications for different pages.

Kay, I am not doubting your skills here, but i think MTsoul is right. Why bust your *** for ten or so hours (design $64) / (hours 10) about six an hour, when he can just buy the template and have you make the modifications to fit his needs.
If it was your own then yes build it from scratch for pride, but in this case, he may as well buy the thing.

i would say for an intermediate..

full design - about 5-7 days
flash coding animation - about 5-8 days
developing, etc - 3 days

this is guessing your doing about 4-6 hours a day, without playing around. meaning you know what and how you want to do it.

if you have to start searching and posting questions, add on about 10 days :)

good luck :)
