yeah,... It's logical that if you have it running on the background your computer will slow down. Just don't do it then. I don't. Just run it once a week.

I did some research on this yesterday, after my partner and I downloaded it, and spy sweeper found the same trojan on both of our computers..2nd Thought..apparently it's a very popular trojan..type "2nd Thought" in google, and you'll find a lot of threads on forums, and other articles about spy sweeper. One guy did mention that it counted the same file an couple times, but read around, it seems like it catches some things that others don't, an dmost people seem to endorse it.

As tight as I have my machine screwed down, I sincereley doubt that any spyware/adware is transmitting any info, even if it is installed...
I don't use IE, and I keep a huge firewall, which tells me if anything is being transmitted over the network, let alone the internet.
I continually run spybot S&D, and occaisionally it does find something, prob from when I let others use my machine... I am usually informed of them by my firewall way before I notice any drop in performance.
I also do not use any IM service (this is where 90% of spyware come in), as I don't see any necessity in speaking with someone in real time, unless it is on the Telephone. I find 98% of all IM messages to be fluff, and just there to take up time which could be used for much more productive processes, like thinking, learning, experiencing real life, interacting with actual humans, etc.
I feel most of this "spyware" comes in with full acceptance from the user. A lot of this "free" stuff, isn't free unless you display thier ads. By using a spyware remover, you are violating the EULA you signed when you downloaded the program... Same as pirated software, you are not paying for the software, as agreed...
as for this.... I would be willing to bet that it is claiming several progs which are not really spyware... I would be very careful to delete only the obvious problems...

I prefer AIM over talking to people via the phone. Besides, you can ignore people while talking to them on AIM, run around silly for a few minutes, play a game of minesweeper, play McGiver's flash footer game, and whole host of things while having someone else talking to you...not that I have done that to any of you here....ever.....:beam:
Phone conversations force me to make an attempt at listening to what the other person says...or else the other person starts getting a little jumpy :(

sorry, I meant face to face, an actual show of emotions, not emoticons.
I have nothing against them, or people who use them... I just find them to be a diversion, rather than a source of communication...
Personal opinion tho... not meant to sound like one is right or wrong, just my view.
::Kirupa::
for those reasons alone, I don't like IM. If my convo with X is not important enough to garner most of X's attention, then I prob don't really need to be conversating with X... I appreciate someone's full attention when I am talking to them, and also give them my full attention as well.
Then again, I don't talk on the phone, just to conversate either. Very few of my phone calls are without reason. I don't own a cell phone, because I didn't see it's value, when I did. All the calls were more of a hassle, since I wasn't at home, in front of a computer, and a waste of money.
