Left hand Icon

This may be a silly question but how do you get a Icon to show up under your name in the left hand column? I have tried a couple ways in my profile but nothing I have tried has worked. I noticed that when you look at some ones profile the icon shows up in the stauts box. Any answers would be great.:)

Go to User cp -> Edit Options and the last option on the page. (Press change avatar)
There you can choose an avatar ou like or upload your own :)
