Ok, I have downloaded the Demo for AE.
What I am trying to create, is some kind of ae texture similar to that of this site, when you click on a button.
Ex: Click on services and then check out what happends behind the logo at the top left!
Anyway, what I am looking for is a push in the right direction. I have been to all of the AE links suggested by this site and Forum, but none of then would help me het a background texture.
So any tutorials or links would be awesome!
Thanks!

it is done on after effects
you may want to grab a book if you want to learn how to do that. I have seen no tuts online for it.
Heard thru the grapevine that they also contracted out much of the design work.....ooohhhhh the intrigue.

Man, it stinks that there are not very many tutorials for AE.
Well thanks for the leads guys! If you have any other pointers for doing that effect feel free to share!
Thanks!

That ayato web guy is great at AE. But I hate that all he mostly uses is that TRAPCODE thing. TRAPCODE is a thing you can buy for AE that has like 100 PREMADE effects...all you do is drag and drop and it created like 3D swirls and dust and stars and sh*t. It looks amazing but if you can't do it yourself, what skill is there.
And plus, I dont see much things you can do in AE. Theres not really a lot of effects to choose from. I have PRO edition but still...I mean, I wanna do more in AE. There is probably ways to use lots of effects to create what the starter of this thread wanted...
Maybe its cause I only used AE twice...lol. I dunno what I'm talking about. I'm only a beginner.

Are you serious? And there is nothing wrong with trapcode plugins....I personally live and die with them. Why recreate the wheel. But I do agree you should learn the basics then venture out from there. I dont think anyone has ever maxxed out AE.....too much stuff can be done.

DDD - I guess you're right.
How much are the TRAPCODE plugins though? How'd you get yours?
DDD

I purchased mine and their plugins usually run from 199 - 299

if you got AE valued at 1k and dont really use it. You should not invest in anything else. Those effects can be done without plugins.

Actually you do need Photoshop and Sound Effects to actually use AE. These 2 will bring the movie to life.
But if you BOUGHT AE for 1K and dont use it...shame on you.

aha this site... yeah its pretty nice.
ok off the top of my head, check out the Fractal Noise filter and when you got that right, play with Colour balance or hue and saturation. also looks like a gradient mask thats been feathered is used and those stars (particles?) look like they have been imported from photoshop and just run a loop in AE(eg..frame 1 to frame 100 moving in a Y value).
It can be done, just needs some playing around and experimenting, remember that where it is placed in the end makes it look that good, behind a transparent glass type window, they probably masked the effect in that shape in flash.
Are you guys sure its done in AE, cause looks like generic Combustion 2d sprites to me.
anyways.
best of luck ;)
DDD
June 1st, 2004, 11:43 PM
you are correct soulty.....could be combustion or video toaster which has the same sprites. But it is post prod and done in one of those...AE can do it to

They are pretty much the same. Bt AE has a bigger following.
.soulty
June 2nd, 2004, 11:10 PM
no probs jjmancini, howd you go with it?
Yeah ive played around with combustion, well i tried, its alot more difficult that AE, although for face value Combustion looks more powerful, with its 2d sprites (particles/ fire, smoke, rain, ect...) which are just amazing and industrial feel to the app, its a pro tool. While AE is powerful but its effects arent on the same level as Combustion, when it comes to its particles... but in the end for ease of application, AE wins, especially if your not specialised in the area of motion graphics and all you want to do is create some cool effects to apply elsewhere.
like DDD said, AE has a larger following because its easy to use, will effort can create some amazing effects and is much cheaper than combustion/flame/flint.

Hey guys!
Alright - let me ask your suggestions.... I have come across a copy of
3d Studio Max
LightWave
After Effects
and
Ray Dream
through people who work with me at www.frunder.com, yet none know how to use them.
So, to create those background textures on kigot.com, which one do uyou believe would be the best?

i agree with Sharif... i feel it's very hard to start with F1 ..... i can get it faster with a tutorial or simple file .... and i think now you can make a lot of things through internet so i think it's became easy for a lot of pepole to ask in any forum than press F1 :-/ .
i saw soulty tut in AE section and it's very usefule and i didn't excpect that AE is very easy .
thanx for all kirupians :thumb:

So, to create those background textures on kigot.com, which one do uyou believe would be the best?like i said before photoshop and after effects. ;) the only thing max and lightwave will give you are some really hardcore particles effects which you can mimick them in much less time it takes to learn how to use lightwave and max.
Although both apps are pretty nice to have. DDD loves to use LW(lightwave) and talks highly of it, while alot of people use max for gaming and such, for what you want you dont need them.

June 6th, 2004, 03:24 AM
Well thanks for the compliments on the cool site, but I think you are all confused.
www.Frunder.com maybe cool and all, but it is no 2 advanced, I believe he was saying www.kigot.com was better than 2advanced.
mlkedave
Although the menu is similar to that of (mt), Frunder Studios creates unique menu's. Look for this months new menu that you can view a small sample of here....
http://www.frunder.com/services/frunder-analyst/frunder-analyst-purchase.htm
And once again, www.frunder.com is no 2advanced he was talking about www.kigot.com, but if he was talking about frunder, thanks! But I highly doubt it!

Kigots interface isnt that cool. They have great effects but 2A's interfaces are the best and they can do kigots effects x10. I hate 2A but its the truth...

I was reading something on the kigot site. I heard they are getting a bunch of flack about not doing the design themselves but contracting out (which I dont see what the big deal is I contract out my AS needs). But yes it was post prod in AE. At least that is what I read.

yea i'm sure it's a component, if it's not i'm still sure you can find one.
try searching MM's components, not sure what to search for though =)
but in all honesty it shouldnt be too hard to script.

June 7th, 2004, 12:52 AM
No it was built using suggestions by other people on this forum. Just check out posts that were made here by me, search for jjmancini and you will see the AS discussion.
So no, it is not a component (that I know of).
But it is simple to make.
Well, to make it clean, a couple of days of work.
