I am making a Drop Shadow for a layer but I want it to only show up on have of the object. When I set the angle and direction, no matter how small I make the shadow, if the distance is small enough for part of the shadow to be under the closest side, the shadow also appears on the top and bottom of the object. I would like it if I could just earse the parts of the shadow that I dont want but that just changes the shadow to fit to the new shape... Does anyone know how to earse part of a shadow or make it small enough to only be see under one site of the object in the layer? Thanks

Mike

if you set your angle your distance should not matter much except if you set it to 0, at about 5px it should be in the position you want.

THanks soulty but I dont think I posted my question really well... Do you see on your screen shot how the shadow appears on the right and bottom? I want it to appear just on the right... Is this possible. Thanks

In addition to fiddling with the numbers, you can also drag the shadow with your mouse. If it's too fuzzy, it may still show up at top and bottom even if its 180 right.

You mean like this? If im not mistaken you wanted the shadow to be on the right only so its just matter of postioning the angle to be -174 degrees.

well the shadow can still be seen on the top... Sorry for the hassle. I am pretty much giving it up.

just put another layer on top of that layer, and make it white to cover up the shadow....

It's called the eraser tool buddy, zoom in and take it out by hand after rasterizing the layer and styles (make a new layer on top of it and press CTRL + E)

umm graphicsslash, buddy, u dont know what your talking about. I already addressed that. When you rasterize a layer that doesn't effect the blending options. Even after rasterizing the layer, if you erease part of the shape, the shadow will then just change to accomidate the new shape. Please dont address me like that when you dont know what you are talking about.

mlk you could also put a TINY line of the same color of the thing your putting it on, make that tiny line be 1 pixel in width and go all the way down the image that your putting it on until that image stops... then put a drop shadow on that...you can do it a few pixels less also so that way the drop shadow wont peek out. (also put that under your image so you cant see the line).

purpous thanks for the line suggestion!!! That sounds really promising, ill just set the fill opacity to 0. THANKS
