Hello everybody,

I want to start using 3d in my flash animations and don't know where to start. I'm looking for something with a pretty cheap education price but I don't know about anything other than swift3d and adobe atmosphere.

Can you fill me in on what's out there and what's decent in not just prices but also quality?

Thanks and Cheers,
Jeff

swift3d is pretty much the go at the moment for cheap 3d in flash, its a capable program, can do much more than simple 3d logos.

and for more complex 3d , heard blender3d is pretty good Sen and a few others have said it pretty powerful and affordable, also you have Gmax and plasma.

Any 3d tool is good for flash because almost all 3d tools can be imported into flash...

GMAX - 3D STUDIO MAX - CINEMA 4D - SWIFT 3D - AFTER EFFECTS - MAYA...

Plasma is like 3ds max without half the stuff. As far as swift, i wouldn't recommend it for any advanced 3d since it doesn't have most stuff the other programs have, like modelling, particle systems, etc. It's a really basic program actually.

As Sharif said, you can pretty much use any 3d program and export as a movie (except ae isn't a 3d program), image sequence etc and import it into flash, just whatever is right for you.

All 3D applications are good in their own way in terms of their renderer and what tools that have. A large proportion of having a good 3D application is just using your imagination. I personally like Cinema4D and 3D studio max as they arent as hard as Maya. But in my case, im only freelancing and experientmenting so I woudlnt use Maya at all.

Try one and test it out, see how you go with it. I dont remember this specific url but it tells you about the different 3D applications, maybe someone will drop by and give you it. But rememebr that they are only giving you details about it and they maybe be biased about the qualities of the programs as they may have used it themselves so it might not be the same for you and your experience.

cheers.

I use Lightwave (7) with the erain Swift 3d plug-in which allows me render out the 3d animations as editable swift files :¬) Not a cheap solution, mind you, but there are certainly more expensive ones when you start talking about 3D (e.g. Max).

I just thought it was funny. To start with 3D you have to use a program that is called Cinema 4D.

Got it now or did I misunderstand and had you already gotten it?
