flash speed check

hey, i'm getting some slowdown on my flash site (very beginning stages).. there is some masking, and a menu is loaded externally.. motion is about 1/2 tweened and 1/2 actionscript (@ 30fps).. the slowdown occurs during rollover on the menu items and when clicking them.. i'm running on a 450 Mhz G4 w/ 768Kb ram and T1 connection (so loading isn't a problem i think; there's no preloader yet, btw)

is it just the speed of my computer that's causing it, or could it be steamlined some other way?.. i've tried almost everything to limit the number of simultaneous scripts running.

I didn't have any slowdown but then again I'm running an AMD 64 with a lot of RAM and a 256 MB graphics card, I can see though by the animation used that it would slow down lower spec PC's.
