I use photoshop 7.0 and I would like to know:
How can I make the white background of one layer be transparent while keeping the picture to import into flash on top of another image?

u want to "CUT" out the white bits and keep the image there. well if so get with the magic wond or 1pxl eraser and get rid of the white bits then save as a .png to keep it transparent for when u slap it in flash. :D

yeah, you dont want to be drawing things on white. You'd want to have everything on a blank (transparent) background to begin with in Photoshop - and this goes for about everything you make in photoshop when possible. Always have your background separate, i.e. a separate layer. This makes it easy to change or remove if needed. Then just export as png24 as mentioned by desire. This will alow the image to maintain its alpha channel in Flash. (Also, its always a good idea to save your Flash file before importing).
