Hey guys!
I doubt you remember, but sometime back I was thinking about getting Linux, and well, while browsing at my local Barnes and Noble, I checked out the Linux Bible, but I can't buy it until saturday.
So I was just wondering, Can I just install Linux on the same HD as my win2k right?
See, I hear people telling me to "back up my files" and what not,
but I would like to know what y'all did when y'all started up!
I'm getting the Linux:RH version 9, and man oh man, I seriously can't wait!
Any other tips would be appreciated!

You can install it with windows 2000, but you're prolly going to have to use a program like partition magic to repartition your free space to make room for linux. Do a google search about how to dual boot win2k and redhat...you should find a lot of good sites.
http://www.linuxquestions.org <-- great place
I must ask, why redhat 9? Are you actually going to buy it or get the free version? I would go with Fedora Core 1 (aka Redhat 10) if I were you...

Pros: Open source, stability, wide variety of applications, Its free (usually), and it will force you to learn something new.
Cons: Can be difficult to grasp, Will not run your favorite windows apps/games (usually), and it will force you to learn something new.
Thats the short list. There are tons of linux sites that can better describe what it can do.
[edit] I installed Fedora Core 2 test. Appears to be a bit buggy. Is FC1 pretty stable?

I was afraid fedora core 2 would be too unstable at this stage...I guess I'll just have to wait a few months until they release the final version.
I've heard good things about FC1, but I've never used it so I can't personally comment on it.
