View Full Version : Writing Tutorials for this Site - Template

Hi all,
A few people (novatake) gave me a brilliant idea to help those who write tutorials and such for this site: a template. In the attached ZIP file, I briefly explain how to structure your tutorial, etc. The only thing that I really request, is please make sure your content fits within the center table without having to have the table's width resized.
Looking forward to this, and if anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to reply back. You don't have to follow the structure in this template, but it does make it easier for you to see how your final tutorial will look on the site, and it especially makes it easier for me to have to process the information to the site.
You can grab the tutorial template here: http://www.kirupa.com/resources/tutorial.htm
Thanks,
Kirupa :rambo:

Hi ANEWIDEACo,
Welcome to the forums. Good to have you here but Im going to have to throw another complaint at ya ;)
You're footer is just a tad to big. You're going to need to size it down a bit. Go here to see some guidelines for our footers :D
http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12
(This applies to Flash and non-Flash footers)
Thanks!

Irfanview can do it too (google it for a download link). It will let you set a key combination, take a snapshot after a time limit, of the whole screen or just a window, and gives you the option of keeping or removing the cursor (which is always removed with prnt scrn).

Hello,
Do you know where I can get a tutorial for the sliding photogallery like this web site,
http://www.robbycyron.de/main.htm. When you click on OUT, the words would come out.
Then if you click on ONLY ME, the thumbnails would come out. Then if you click on the
number below the thumbnails, it would change accordingly. That's really cool. But I am
not an expert in Flash MX. I am just wondering of you know any tutorial.
Thanks
MasterJ

Here is a tutorial on a random ball change. (I made it)
Ok this is something kind of like it…..
* First, make a circle and convert it to a MovieClip. You can do this by selecting the entire circle and pressing F8. A window will pop-up. Name it “circle” and select Movie Clip.
* Next, click on the circle and press F9. This will bring up the action script panel. Make sure you have it on expert mode. Paste this into the panel:
onClipEvent (load) {
_root.targXscale = 50;
_root.targYscale = 200;
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
cXscale = this._xscale;
cYscale = this._yscale;
difXscale = cXscale-_root.targXscale;
difYscale = cYscale-_root.targYscale;
setProperty(this, _xscale, cXscale-(difXscale/5));
setProperty(this, _yscale, cYscale-(difYscale/5));
}
onClipEvent (load) {
//this sets the initial target x position for our clip
_root.targX = 50;
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
//this variable stores the current x position of the clip
cX = this._x;
//this variable stores the distance between the clips current x position
//and where we want it to go
//I am setting the targX variable in the root so that it is easy to target with our button
difX = cX-_root.targX;
//this moves the clip 1/5 of the distance every frame.
//Because the difference between the clips current location and its destination
//will get smaller each frame, so will the amount the clip travels each frame.
//This is what makes the clip appear as though it "eases into" it's final destination
setProperty(this, _x, cX-(difX/5));
//check the flash manual to learn more about the setProperty action
}
* Now we are going to need to make a button. To do this, make square and turn it into a button. To do this, select the entire square and press F8. Name it “box” and select “button”.
* Now click on the box (that you just made into a button) and press F9 if the actions panels is not up. Paste this into the panel:
on (release) {
_root.targXscale = random(500);
_root.targYscale = random(500);
}
on (release) {
//this sets the targX variable to a random number between 0 and 500
_root.targX = random(500);
}
5. Now test the movie by pressing ctrl + enter. Click on the square. If you did it right, it should move and change sizes.
