Who needs "American Idol"? William Hung doesn't — he already
has a recording contract.

The singer, who became a fan favorite — but not a judges'
favorite — during open auditions for the Fox series with his
spirited version of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs," has signed a deal
with Fuse Music Network and Koch Records.

His debut album, tentatively titled "The True Idol," is scheduled
for release April 6, it was announced Monday.

on Countdown w/ Keith O. he said he was reviewing the contract. I almost feel as if they are doing htis to make fun of him? Because he was funny? I mean, i think he seems like a really nice kid, and would hate for people to buy his stuff just to laugh at him...i hate it when people do that kind of stuff.

I guess it's cool he's making it. But should someone who doesn't have the chops really be recording a CD? To make matters worse, it is going to be made in a month's time. Even if it is all covers, yikes.

Well...i'm quite surprised to see that nobody has started a thread about this guy. i have a lot to say about this guy and the phenomenon that he's started, but it's late now and i shan't post that yet :)

to start off (and also the reason why i thought of creating this thread)...

i just saw the AI uncut uncensored untalented, and they mentioned how williamhung.net received 7 million hits. It just hit me...maybe some of us could/should have thrown in a little bit of hung in our website...that may attract some traffic, eh? of course, williamhung.net has probably stolen all these hits :(

That's one of the oldest tricks for getting traffic: putting up something that's popular. For instance, I made a post on my blog that dissed microsoft, and a few days later I noticed that I had a thousand more hits from google :)

whoops, sorry about that. i did search, but this being the only thread that showed up and closest to focusing on him didn't seem to focus much about him but on the record he's getting instead. guess this'll work too.

that's what I think about his "fame"...it's comedy. Most people aren't really "supporting" him, I feel that most are just laughing at him. Some say that they admire him for his "courage and the way he took the insults", but i think they're just laughing that he probably doesn't seem to understand that he's actually a bad singer.

The first time I read the title on other news sites, I thought an American idol who got hung as in - tie rope around neck, tug gently - got a record deal :)

Good for him though.....for not getting hung and getting a record deal :D

no problem unflux...to me it's the most stupid mistake to make is probably to not search, and that's kinda why i took it so bad :P

come to think of it...how many of you look to him as an actual hero/idol, and why?

to me i feel that he's abit of a disgrace to asians since he sang so bad, but on the other hand, i'm glad he showed such moral courage and didn't flip out like the other...non-asians did (sorry, no offence meant :ne: )

it's not a disgrace to any race, and that's way off topic.

It's a huge laugh in the face of the show IMO, as if they are such
experts to turn him down. Yet, his appearance and rejection has
become bigger than any of the people seen on that show before.

THAT's why he's a hero, and why I said: Only in America. IT's GREAT! :thumb:
