Hey guys,
Do you any of you own a TI-83 calculator made by Texas Intsruments?
If you do then you probably already know how to write programs on it?
I'm just wondering, because one day I just decided to learn how to script on the calculator and make games!
What kind of script is that on the ti-83? Is it a whole another branch?
thanks

I used to program all the time on my TI-83+ in my senior year of high school. We had to do a lot of different things for a Math course I was taking, but of course since the calculators were issued for keeps for the year (surprising since my school wasn't that great, but we did have to sign papers to get them so we were held liable for any damage) I used to take it home and program all sorts of random crap. Not sure if the script on the calc is actually called anything specific though :-\

Thats awsome,
I'm only a freshmen, and I have my own TI-83! :D.
How did you learn to scipt on it?
Did you just look up websites or something?
Today, I created a small program to calculate the volume of a cylinder, its my first one so hey.
But It sure is neat.
Yet I want to learn how make more complex programs!
Thanks

Yeah, I definitely didn't/don't have the money to throw away on a calculator like that... I wouldn't use it anyway :P
There are sites on there (hint: google ;)) that teach you how to code some complex things. Personally, I didn't really use them, I had more fun just playing around on my own.
A friend of mine used to program games all the time, they looked cheesy (hey, theres only so much you can do with limited ascii abilities) but they were totally fun.... and like hundreds of lines of code :hangover:
Where he learned to do it... I have no clue... but some he downloaded from sites directly onto the calculator using a link cable.

Cool
I have a TI-83 Plus too =)
I have lots of stuff on it. Math functions and I use it to cheat on tests too :P
I have tryed to make games for it but it was allways too slow to be any fun. But I did made a game where you could make your own maps with a matrx. The game would then load the matrx you entered. I make a cool cude maker too. You have too give the X,Y,Z rotations and the TI-83 would draw a cude :)
How i learned it? Well i read the book that came with it and just messed around with it :P I think me know AS helped too.
I also heard that TI use Macromedia Flash as OS :)

Yeah,
I've been messing around with the book and I actually made a 2d block game! The block moves around on the screen and you have to dodge the other blocks!
Haha Yeah I know, its cheesy, and its my first TI game. But its awsome.
And its pretty easy also, not as complex as any on a computer!
thanks

what book are you talking about? The one that came with the calculator?

The programming language that comes with TI calculators is called TI BASIC.
If you have a TI-86, then you can write C programs on your computer and then compile them for your calculator, which makes for much easier programming.
I think you can write assembly programs on your computer and then transfer them to the TI-83/+, but assembly is hard to learn.

I'm in 8th grade and I don't have a graphing calculator, but my friends do. I make games on them. I made this really cool game(using TI BASIC) where you jump around and try to collect gems. It's actually pretty cool. I made a level editor for it and there are bombs too.

I made a couple of game a few years ago, before I started coding on the computer. The coding on the calculator itself was actually quit horrible. I still have some very awesome programs that help me with stuff quite easily, such as for example the ABC formula.
I never really looked into the shell/ion kinda simulators or whatever you call 'em, With that you can really make interesting stuff that would actually be fun to play.
