Have any of you guys seen this show? It's HILARIOUS, I just picked up the DVDs of the first season, the second season isn't here yet on DVD, but I've seen them all too. It's too bad this show is over... but its sooooooo good. The character David is perfectly executed. What's your favorite episode? I'm going to have to go with episode 4 of season 1 (Its either 4 or 5.....) when the speaker comes in to discuss teamwork... lol.

I have the DVD box set. :)
It's a great programme. Very English. Anyone who's worked in an office over here (or Slough) knows some manager like David Brent...
I know they're planning on making an American version, though whether it'll still be as funny is another matter. Our comedies don't seem to translate over very well...

Yeah, I'm going to assume that the american version is going to be a crappy sitcom.... maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but doubtful. Gareth is so incredibly funny.... "Gareth Keenan : Investigates." I was a little suprised by the happy ending of the christmas specials... Does your DVD set have the christmas specials? I was hoping they were holding out on Season 2 so they could put those on.... ::crosses fingers::

No, mine's just the season episodes...
I agree, Gareth is hilarious. Such a little numpty, with his TA obssession. :P Seen his 'webpage' on the BBC site?

thats too bad about the christmas specials..... I've seen his webpage, priceless. Its great when he asks everyone if they trust him :). And he is crying when david says he is leaving. Sooo many good parts. I suppose it would have eventually gotten boring if they kept going, but I still want more :(
edit: The fire alarm scene, David is saying "ok, be calm" and then Gareth bolts across the screen at the perfect time. ahhh, if I didn't lend the DVDs to my brother, I would watch them right now.

They realised that it was better to go out on a high rather than keep going and get worse (can I say 'Friends'? I knew I could ;) ).
Always leave the audience wanting more. :) This way they can always come back for the odd special, without running dry of gags in the series. After all, there's only so many things that go on in an office, and even David Brent can only be so stupid... :)

I think the best part about the show is the character development... Watching the first couple episodes again after seeing the entire series was like a whole new experience once you learn the little things about the characters. It wasn't until the 3rd episode or so that I actually got really into it. Thats the best part, when situations happen that wouldn't normally be funny unless say Gareth is doing it.

Brentism of the day
"What does a squirrel do in the summer? It buries nuts. Why? 'Cos then in wintertime he's got something to eat and he won't die. Collecting nuts in the summer is worthwhile work. Every task you do at work think, would a squirrel do that? Think squirrels. Think nuts."
