nice work,

though your slogan dosent look as realistic as the title. "constant" i think should be less legiable. as well as the the symbol at the bottom, to go with the book aging.

Yes i know i am picky, but its hard to see faults in your work sometimes. lol

actually I agree with you, but didn't want to overdo it. I'll make
that adjustment now that someone already noticed it, thx. ;)

glad you like it otherwise. =)

reminds me of something I got half done and quit on:

Book (http://specialcolin.250free.com/book17.jpg)

Way better than mine, used only Photoshop right? :)

UNFLUX

sintax - lol no I'm not trying move in, just be inspired by it. We all
have to broaden our horizons and try soemthing new from time to
time. This style is definitely not my forte, but I'm pretty happy
with this piece. Glad you like it. =)

colin - yours is decent, keep going! You never know where it
might end up. And yes, all photoshop. Thx for the comments. ;)

nice work unflux :) btw, what font is "The Lost Cronicles of Unflux" in?

Sharif, i assume it was done with brushes and textures and contrast work.

EDIT: oops, okay changed the name

Unflux, I was looking at the picture again, and I'm not sure if it already is, but have you tried overlaying the butterfly? I think it might make it look older/more worn (if thats the direction you're taking it in) I was just thinking the butterfly's colors are a little too rich for something that looks so old.

REEFˇ

Yea colin is right, overlay or color burn it :).

UNFLUX
March 7th, 2004, 02:15 PM
it's not overlayed, but it's transparent at 80%. Overlaying
changes the entire thing in a direction I don't want. I played with
a lot of different variations, and this one seemed to come out
best. I actually want the coloring to be as they are, because the
butterfly is not meant to be printed on the cover, but an embed,
or stamped in image.

Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate the honesty. =)

The brown burnt paper is nice! If it were put in flash and it was interactive...and we could touch the butterfly (you get what I mean) that would be soooooo nice .

mike he has already said they are going to launch a new site ;)

anyway- unflux i love this. the aging looks very good and the worness looks perfect.

just a question: was this from scratch or a photomanip? cuase from scratch :o

"Brushes and tons of layers"

In other words, from scratch, using tons of layers, brushes, and blending options to get the right feel. When I did mine, thats all I did. Put a couple brushes down, saw if it looked right, went on if so, and if not, redo it to make it work :)

mlkedave - yes we are too busy, yes we will be launching a new
site. It's going to be a little while, because we're working on it in
between client projects. There is no planned launch date as of now. =)

the book and the butterfly are both photographs originally.
Everything else was done with brushes and layers. The
butterfly image is of a real one, pinned to a board. I just
manipped the pin out.

Pretty simple really, just working with teh different brushes and
tones of color to get the effects I wanted. Sometimes that can be
the hardest part as you know. I may expand on this and make
some pages inside the book as well.

I spent quite a few hrs on it, so I'm really pleased you guys like
it. :beam:, thanks.

Can you post the original pictures aswell? It would be nice to be able to compare. Maybe you should make a wallpaper "Before, After", dunno just an idea.
