Hey my 3d design freinds!
I have a quick question, I hope someone can answer!
What is the difference using an EP curve tool and CV curve tool?
What are the main characteristics of these two tools that serperaes them?
thx!

in Maya?

CV = Control Vertices. It basically uses a mathematical function to approximate a curve where control points are specified.

EP curves I've never heard of... might just be a different method of spline or surface creation....

or

it could be a curve animation aid..?

(might be helpful to get some info on the 3D application your referring to. Some programs have their own naming conventions).

Yeah,
but I'm pretty sure you can use CV and EP curve tools on other programs right?

I see,
It seems that it just tells me that it is another form of creating curves...
This is all I got :

Using the EP Curve Tool
Use the EP Curve Tool to create curves by placing edit points in the workspace. You must place at least two edit points to create the curve.

To create an edit point curve:
1
Select Create > EP Curve Tool.
2
Click to place two or more edit points in the desired positions. An x is displayed at each edit point.
3
Press the Enter key to complete the curve.
Changing the curve shape
You can modify a curve as you draw it or after you complete it.

To change the shape of the curve as you create it:
1
Before you complete the curve, press the Insert key. A move manipulator appears on the edit point at the end of the curve.
2
Drag the manipulator to change the curve's shape.
3
To continue to change the curve's shape, select another edit point and drag the manipulator. You can marquee-select more than one edit point at a time.
To change the shape of the curve after completion:
1
Select the desired edit point or CV.
2
Select a transformation tool, for example, the Move Tool, and drag to move the edit point or CV.
Setting EP Curve Tool options
Select Create > EP Curve Tool to open the options window.

Curve Degree

The higher the Curve Degree, the smoother the curve. The default setting (3 Cubic) works well for most curves.

Knot spacing

The knot spacing specifies how Maya assigns U positioning values to knots. Chord length knot spacing distributes curvature better. If you use the resulting curve to build a surface, the surface might display texture mapping better.

Uniform knot spacing produces curve U positioning values that are easier for you to predict

ok, I googled it and this is the first result that came up:

EP = editable point

Read the tut for a better explanation. I seems to be native to Maya.

Ah,
I see how it is.
Edit Points used through exact points, unlike the CV.
Ok thanks a lot man.
I'm currently working on making a NURBS house, and I was thinking about making some cool little features to it.
