Say I have a scan of some textured paper, and i want to change part of it to another color but i want it to still looked textured, how can i do this in photoshop.

Heres an example: http://www.indianweddingcard.com/weddingcards/images/303.jpg

You see the gold line border, its not solid gold, its part of the textured paper dyed gold.

use you selection tooll with a healthy feather select an area the go to image>>adjustments>>hue saturation be sure to tick the colorize box. That will only alter a selection.

for sharp selection you can also use the magic want to select areas. Turn off antialias for hard edges and no feather. Play with the tolerance to pick up only the colors you want.

Another way I use (because I always change my mind about color) is to double click the textured paper layer, and click on "color overlay" in the big old options box that comes up. Where it says "Normal" go to "Hue" or "Color" (your choice for the type of colorization). Click the default red box to pick to the color you want, and pull the Opacity slider down (if needed).
Then you can double click this setting at any time in the future to tweak or change the color.

good thinking jim.....use his way or you make an adjustment layer under the layer menu. Then you can do what I said in my first post and be able to go back in and edit
