I've been asked to do a website for a furniture shop - nothing flashy, just quite simple. Whilst thier product range is fairly small, they do need the facility to be able to change some text and and pictures from time to time.
I'm fairly new to html sites, having learnt how to do websites with Flash. Is there an easy way to do this? I beleive they have a modicum of technical knowledge, but I obviously don't want them messing around with the pages in Dreamweaver!
I know with Flash you can load taxt dynamically from external .txt files - can I do something similar with Dreamweaver, or is there a lovely little programme around that will allow them to alter things?
cheers,
Ollie

You will need some sort of server side technology to do things dynamically. DW has some excellent behaviors that make doing this a snap. You can make a content management system in about 30 minutes. Check the help files for the different behaviors.

Thanks DDD, but can you be a wee bit more specific? I went to have a look at the behaviours to try and do this, but couldn't find anything to help! But then, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for...
Do I need to create a recordset and database? And then how would they update? Would they be able to do it through a webpage or would it be database based.
Sorry if I sound a little ignorant, but it's really something I'm yet to get my head around!

They would do it through a web form and yes you will need recordsets and a database. I believe there is a tut in the help files. If not search Macromedia dot com I know there was one. It is just a little too much to type up for me right now. But it is really easy and once you do one tut you will be good to go.

how often are they going to need updates? And if its not too often, why not have them send you the updates, and you can charge them a couple a bucks to make the changes, like $20, or so, depending on how much they need done? If they need to change everyday, that may not be a good idea, if its once a month, or so, then its an easy $20 a month, and you can keep them as a constant client... just a suggestion.
