It's called "reading week" here in canada for univ/college instead of march break. I guess they want to discourage us from having fun

a friend of mine, in Marin County, California, says his kids had the week off as a "ski week." One of his kids is on a huuuuuge ($250 million) private yacht in the Caribbean, the other is driving her Chauffeur (Dad) nuts...
I've never heard of a "ski week" ... in addition to Spring Break in March as well...

In college - homework is never done. There's always something you can do.
Me - I'm going to study for an exam in a little bit. Then tomorrow night I'm going to study for my next mid-term on Wednesday night. Then I'm going to study for my Sociology mid-term next week, then when I'm done THAT, I'm going to work on the paper I have to do for English class.
It's a never ending cycle - but I kinda enjoy it sometimes.

Pretty warm actually, my igloos melting.
Just as cold as it is down there, for me at least anyway. Why does everyone assume Canada's cold when we're just across the lake.... anywho, no break for me :(

because you are 1000 miles north of some of us... even though Sharif is prob in colder weather than you right now... ;)
basic Geography tells me that it is going to be colder the further North you go...
Don't forget that the US goes quite a ways south as well...
Canadians usually forget that there is a US past New England, heck they usually forget there is a Canada past Montreal...

The most southern point in Canada is at the same degree latitude as northern California. ;P Not-so-advanced geography also tells us that when close to water, weather of the surrounding area is moderated. Many a time its colder in New York than it is here.

cool, but the Northern most part of California is drastically different than even San Francisco, and definitely different from Southern California...
Windsor, Ontario 42° 16' N
Crescent City, CA 41° 46' N
this is one of the most Northern California cities, and one of the Southern most Canadian City... even 1 degree in latitude is a big difference. Plus, we don't get the cold from the north, due to the Pineapple Express (jet stream from Hawaii)... I can almost guarantee you that all of Canada is colder than San Francisco... It will prob be warmer in the summer as well.
And I stated that NY was prob colder than you... so http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif back...
it's 60 degrees F here today, what is it there?

Rev, I never said anything about Canada being warmer than San Fran, of course its not. I was merely trying to make a point that Canada is not as cold as some Americans think it is. It was a worthy response because you said it gets colder as you get further north, yet it couldn't be that cold here if its at the same degree latitude as northern California. I don't see the harm in that. Whatever. Arguing for the sake of it is useless.

I wasn't arguing...
I agreed w/you...
just pointing out the actual stats, for future use if needed...
You Canadians are real sensitive about your weather, Eh?

I cant wait till schools over. If you think school's bad, just wait till you're overworked and underpaid for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week in a thankless, stifling work environment where the managers offer you no respect or overtime and constantly question your judgement.
Then you'll wish you were back at school. :)
