"Flash Kart is the web's first fully modular, fully skinnable shopping cart system for Flash MX® and (coming soon) SWiSHmax®.
Integrating Flash Kart into new or existing Flash sites is a snap -- just add buttons! No back-end scripting or session variables to contend with. With Flash Kart, a single, simple line of code is all that's required.
Flash Kart updates in real-time. _No clicking over to extra pages simply to view what's in your cart, find out how much you've spent or adjust item quantities. _All computations are done "on the fly." Also, Flash Kart is ready to processes purchases the moment it begins loading, so dial-up customers will not have to wait for the program to fully load in order to begin buying your products."

Personal Opinion: a bit ugly for $75 and only a (bad) Paypal integration..!

do I see that you also have to license the app per site?

so, in theory, once you buy the software, you still have to pay $39 for each site you want to use this on?

Hmmmm, don't know how I feel about that one.

Personal Opinion: a bit ugly for $75 and only a (bad) Paypal integration..! After looking at the date of this original post I can't say that I disagree with this opinion... and I'm the developer of Flash Kart (and the one responsible for that particular skin).

At any rate, the skin has thankfully evolved (although my artistic skills remain about the same, which are not very good at all). Further, the skinning methodology of Flash Kart has evolved as well. While version 1.0 was 100% actionscript, version 1.1 now employs the timeline, a move which allows simple effect tweens and thus provides a much smoother and aesthetically pleasing shopping cart experience.

Also, the price has dropped considerably: it's now $39.95. Additional licenses are required for each domain, but cost less than half the price of the application itself.

I'm not sure exactly what constitutes a *bad* Paypal integration. If the current integration can be improved upon, please let me know.

Finally, I'm certainly open to further opinions and suggestions on the current incarnation of Flash Kart.

(Lastly, I should go ahead and thank the creator(s) and administrators of this site, as the development of Flash Kart oft led me right here. So thanks, guys.)

Regards,

Firstly i would like to say well done to the dev of flash kart as to me on face value it seems extremly effective and fast.

there is one this that i would change and that is that there should be a confirm button when you clear the kart because that could realy anoy anyone who has spent ages shoping.

I appreciate the positive assessment, Rick. Thanks!

Ah, hadn't though to add a confirm box. This will certainly be included in the next maintenance release.

Thanks again,

In my opinion I think its impressive to have a flash shopping experience HOWEVER, the major pitfall is its integration with paypal. If I were you i would seriously considder looking into other payment gateway integration as I find companies that employ a Paypal scheme often appear cheap, tacky and not professional.

Derek,
I checked it out again and it really is a big improvement, looks really good now, price looks ok, and the problem I had experienced when trying/simulating to buy it is gone too, good job! Keep improving, I'll feature you on my site ;)

If I were you i would seriously considder looking into other payment gateway integration as I find companies that employ a Paypal scheme often appear cheap, tacky and not professional. More gateways are sure to come, with authorize.net at the top of the list. Paypal is nice because it's very accessible and was quite easy to implement, and my focus during development was on the cart itself and not so much the gateway(s). But you are right: multiple gateways are mandatory, including merchant accounts.

My response was not to fire off a knee-jerk, defensive response ;) (not my style at all): instead I simply redesigned the default skins from the ground up. So your criticism proved extremely constructive. Also, glad I rectified the PayPal snafu.

And as for featuring Flash Kart on your site -- wow -- can't thank you enough there. I certainly do intend to keep improving... got a working HTML prototype nearly finished. I'll keep you apprised.

Tell you what, we have a client at present who is interested in an ecommerce solution. We have planned a HTML/PHP and MySQL cart with SecPay (uk company) as the payment gateway. If you can get other payment gateways in operation before the end of July, we (Liquideye Designs Ltd) will invest in your company by using flash cart in every ecommerce solution we do.

To make the job even more seamless (the main site is fully flash developed....) we would love to develop a flash shopping cart along with it. That is, as long as the admin panel (if there is one for flashkart) is simple to use, so they can update products without our help etc.

At the minute the plan is to use a script, with admin panel etc, with MySQL databases and SECPay Payment gateway. It would be far more impressive i feel to have a flash shopping cart.

Let me know either way. We are very interested.
Contact me through the company site (I am hesitant to post emails due to mailbots, etc)

I don't see how paying 49 bucks for a Flash Shopping cart is expensive at all - you all know very well that creating this cart on your own would take hours on end - I know, becuase I did create a flash shopping cart myself, and if i had known about flash kart prior, most likely I would have dropped the $49 in a heartbeat.

I'm even thinking of spending the $49 just to get a look at the cart.

Geez people, it's a shame when someone does all of the leg-work for us, and we tell them they're not even worth a measly $49.

You are right, Propel, 49$ is not much but also people think about utility. I guess some of us don't know to enjoy a good ecommerce shopping cart (http://www.geekcertified.com/online_store_builder.php) or simply are too comfortable to want more.

I know this thread is super old, but with all thought it may be helpful by updating a flash cart solution here. We have developed an Flashcart with a built-in PHP admin panel. This cart also connects with

- Paypal
- Authorize.net
- 2Checkout

The cart requires a MySQL database for the admin panel. One of the biggest features is the autodownload feature where customers are able to download electronic media like music, software, etc..after purchase by providing a download link.

We have different carts to

1. Multicart (http://www.dreamlinestudio.com/11cart/normcart/cart/index.html) (for selling multiple items)
2. MP3 Cart (http://www.dreamlinestudio.com/11cart/musiccart/cart/index2.html)
3. Video Cart (http://www.dreamlinestudio.com/11cart/videocart/cart/)
4. Mini Cart (http://www.dreamlinestudio.com/11cart/musiccart/cart/index.html)

Feedback or questions welcome.
