thanks rysolag,

the site utilizes a bunch of new mx2004 components using the Halo theme color. i believe this is only available in the flash 7 player. (somebody please correct me if i'm wrong) Also, i chose the flash 7 player because of performance issues, overall it runs faster and parses xml quicker than v6. I also made use of CSS, which is new to v7.

i am currently working on a flash remoting implementation of the e-com app... it's quite an adventure.. ;)

cheers for the comments!

nice...good use of some new features in mx2004 as well. Good graphics used but why did you use the default scroll bars that come with mx2004? (e.g. links page), I believe the site would benefit greatly if you re-skinned them.

Good work.

cheers for that MrG,

i agree, the site would look better....i did look into skinning the scrollbars a little, but due to project deadlines and being the sole deseloper on the site i just didn't have time. the process of skinning in mx2004 seems a bit more convoluted than in the previous version. i guess i need to look into it more.... one thing i did try to do (but never found the answer for) was to have the scrollThumb respond to mouseover events by highlighting to a certain color. (like on the MM site) if anyone would like to give me some tips on how to do that, it'd be appreciated! :)

thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Hello

You have done a good job and since I am very new to Flash and infact I am in the process of developing a Flash site for a same garment company.

I will be much appreciate if you can give some clue about how to do this product description like a database here.

Since I am only a week or two into Flash, this help will be a good clue for me.

Thanks

thanks danhk :)

welcome!

basically i am using a few of the new mx2004 v2 components, three xml files (for the database) and data binding. this is really a temporary thing. instead of xml files, i suggest you look into Flash Remoting if you are planning on connecting your flash apps to databases. when dealing with large amounts of data, xml has a lot of bandwidth overhead (because it is plain text) whereas Flash Remoting (more specifically the AMF format) is binary so it's much more compact. flash experiences performance problems when parsing xml... sometimes it freezes everything until its done... not good.

i'm in the process of building a flash remoting e-commerce app to replace that xml set-up... i'm new to flash remoting and i just have to say its really cool! it's amazing what you can do with it....

i hope this helps! good luck!

cheers
