I don't know about you guys, but I'm a huge Anime Freek
( also called otaku ). Well I would like to know how many of my fellow Kirup'ian friends enjoy the art of Anime!
Now, I'm not just talking about : DragonBall Z, or YuYu Hakusho or any of those popular sort... I personally adore
Naruto,
FLCL,
Initial D,
One Piece ,
Full Metal Panic, and much more!

no just joking. I think Golden Boy (kind of stupid, but funny. came on television some month ago), princess Mononoke (cool film), and Cowboy Beebop (also funny) were good, but I wouldn't say I'm a real manga fan at all.

Some guy in school said to me: Either you like the style and art of mangas, or you don't know it.

Yah, Akira sure is a keeper, but the best of all time are Naruto and One Piece... I have tons of other Anime's and Manga's, but definetly, those two are great. My favorite Manga would probobaly have to be Battle Royale : It's about these 40 some students, taken from thier field trip by these government officials and brought to a remote island somewhere near Japan. As you might have figured, the japenese officials sons of b's sure are f*cked up! So when they bring the students to the island, he tells them about a law that not too many people know about : Battle Royal Act. Simply the point is to give each student, a randomly choiced weapon and old food, to kill one another on the island, until one is left standing. Ofcourse there are multiple restrictions, but it's honestly a great manga...
I read the actual book of Battle Royal, and I spent hours reading it everyday... plus, they have a movie out for it too, (not anime, real motion picture).
You guys have to check it out some time... You can get it at like Barnes and Noble, or any other big book store!

do a search - I think kajinku started a thread about it before - I put up a whole list of good stuff :) I'm watching Naruto at the moment (around ep 32 I think) and I absolutely love it: it's so cool. I actually watched Demon City Shinjuku (Monster City) this afternoon for some reason - it wasn't that good.. old skool anime ;)

Cowboy Bebop is one of the kings of anime..

I didnt know there was a Battle Royale manga: the movie is one of my favourites of all time! Can't wait to see BR2 actually :]

I've seen a lot more than that, and I'm sure I've liked most of what I've seen, but I can't really remember there names of all of them, so they must not have been that great... I went to ACen a full years back, and had a blast, and when I went to GenCon I pretty much lived in the Anime Room. I was at Anime Central the same year that Piro and Dom were invited to come for the first time, and it was a blast getting to him in person!

Wow - I had no idea Vampire Hunter was also a series of movies! Vampire Hunter is one of the best arcade games I have ever played. I will definitely check those out sometime :}

I'm not sure if the Vampire Hunter Games had anything to do with the movie(s), I don't think they are at all related... Vampire Hunter D is an anime about a Guy who hunts Vampires, and his name is D. His Hand talks to him, and eats dirt, and stuff. Yes, you heard me. His freaking hand!! There are a lot of Vampire Hunter somethings out there, but D is one of the best Animes ever, and the new movie that they just made a few years back is really sweet.

Maybe, for I looked at the screenshots from the movie, and several characters looked similar. In my view, almost all anime characters look/act kinda similar anyway hehe. With that said, I haven't watched much anime in my life :chinaman:

EDIT: I think you are right. The characters look slightly similar, but they all have different names.

Actually CosPlay is a big deal in the Anime Comunity (AniCom? :h:)
You'd be frightened by ACen... when I went (years ago), they had MechaGodzilla (which was a guy in about 50lbs of sodered metal and cardboard), and a 40 yr old Overwieght balding guy dressed as a Sailor Scout.... scary...

I don't do much in the costume department, but if I ever get back to Acen, I'll try to go as Roger Smith.

It's mainly the otaku that get into cosplay though, a Japanese thing. I don't know about America, but you don't realy get it over here in England. Not that I know of anyway. :)

Though, who would I go as...? I'm tempted by StreetFighter's Cammy, though she's not an RPG / anime character...

It's not only anime characters... I've seen many people dress up as Final Fantasy characters, Mortal Kombat, Dance Dance Revolution characters, and yes, belive it or not, Teletubies... Now don't think I would do anything as crazy as that, but I'll tell you, some people sure go out on a limb for laughs. And it was pretty funny... +_+

Also a lot of FF characters: Yuffie, 6 Clouds, and a Blue haired Sephiroth, I even saw this one guy dressed up as Serge, from Chrono Cross. I remember also seeing a group of people all dressed up as the cast of Final Fight, but since I never really played that one, I couldn't name any of them.
I also saw a box of Pocky. dancing. With a top-hat....

I'd guess I'd have to agree with you on that one. Most girls these days are into : Sporty guys, Shopping, and guys who don't play video games and are obssesed with " stupid chinese cartoons".
That is from what I have understood and have personally seen.
