Ruler in Photoshop 5.5

is there a way to like put a ruler or some sorta grid ontop of my whole image as i can sorta have an outline a possbly messure where things would fit??

and u can pull guide lines from the ruler onto ur image

you can have both, you can use the grid, and rulers, you can even customise the grid to a particular size per Gridline and sub divisions /// even the style ( you can have dotted lines or dots).

you can turn on and off grid by Ctl '

then in your preferences you can go to Guides / grid and slices.. then edit it to your specifics.
