Hello all,

I'm having trouble with this laser beam effect; the stupid thing doesn't look real or good, and especially not real good.

Here's the link I'm sure you'll know what I'm trying to do

Any tips, suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Thanks

O yea, this laser effect will act as a transition for other angle pics of the car

Pixelated Versions! Eureeka!

I'll get right on it.

Thanks Phil!

Hey Phil, I changed it to a pixelated version and it looks a lot better, I'll have to do some tweeking still though.

Again, thanks for the tip!

Hey Phil,

I'd love to show some pics of the original car but I don't have any. I think I'll contact a local honda dealership to see if I could get some pics of the stock vehicle.

Also, I've seen that other site and I really like the voice over. I've been contemplating whether or not I'll use the company that did theirs or not.

KEEP THE TIPS COMING!

Hey Phil, just so ya know I've never seen Star Trek believe it or not. Yea, I have seen autowraps before; it's pretty cool. The scan line is a great idea I'll give that a try as well.

When the hell is star trek on? lol

i like it, but i would speed the transistion up more-

to make it smoother looking

also if you did a pixel stretch from the top of the screen to the platform, and then slowly revealed using pixelated versions the normal car, might make a dropdown effect...kind of like a 2d version of the effect from that jet li movie the "The One" how it took him up in a stretch effect or something

CanadianGuy

Hey PR is that what you meant by pixel stretch? I sped up the frame rate to 25 fps I don't know if I see any difference.

I think I need to do some animating that shows some kinda powering up of the platform. What do you think?

I'd have a big frickin' beam appear from the base covering the length of the car, and keep the alpha at like 75%-ish so you can see what's underneath still as the car appears.

I think that'd be cool

Hey guys I added I beam I don't think I like it and a scan line to the platform.

Anyway check it out

http://utripn.com/mastertrip6.html

I don't quite understand the power up thing on th eplatform but I'll give it a shot.

What do you mean about grid tubes? Should the tube be the same width as the platform?

BTW you guys are giving great ideas!

Thanks a lot!

lol. I appreciate your honestly.

10 -20 pixelated images! Are you serious? How long should the pixelated sequence go for in your opinion?

i dont like the scan lines you have at the start of the animation. maybe try to add some transparency to it. blend in with the stage, might need a bit more perspective as well.

CanadianGuy
January 26th, 2004, 12:26 AM
Okay,

Scan lines GONE!
Beam GONE!

Aside from adding the power up thing to this effect this is how it's gonna look (well for now anyway lol)

I plan on animating stuff in the screen to the right, think I should put the power up thing in there? I don't get what Phils idea about the grid tubes?

CanadianGuy

Yea, give me tons of ideas! I'm loving the help!

YOU GUYS ROCK!

CanadianGuy

the metal cylinders with the power source lower; present a flash/beam/scan, then the power source quickly powers up, changes color, and then the car morphing occurs;

Do you mean two cylinders that have a laser beam shoot from one to another and then the morph happens? During which the laser beams change colors?

O btw sci-fi.com doesn't exist and I don't think scifi.com is the right one either.

Sounds good I don't know if I'll be able to implement it that well though.:-/

bill this is what i meant (look at attached image)

Have that rain down and dissolve line by line or bit by bit into the actual car, while having an alpha glow effect on it...

CanadianGuy

Got it.

Adding negatives and colors!

Over

CanadianGuy
January 26th, 2004, 12:51 AM
Phil not sure what you ment by negatives but check this out

Should I add in some totally different pics like of car parts? Is that what you mean Phil?

http://utripn.com/mastertrip6.html

PR Studio I think that might be a little too advanced for me. I wouldn't know where to start on that one. Any hints?

Thanks for the input

What's this cheesy effect you're talking about? Are you saying that my work is cheesy?

**billmarr pushes Phil**

Seriously, i think this effect is starting to look awesome! I changed the colors of some of the pics, did you check it out? I don't like it with the different colors.

Btw I was the big guy on survivor who caught all the fish lol

**Billmarr thinks to himself.....'wow Phil is gonna get physical in a minute'**

Can I get them out of Frontpage somehow?

prstudio
January 26th, 2004, 01:17 AM
well i think it would be more towards what phil said if you made your pixels smaller in photoshop...

then use some blurred layers, with some pixel layers, and alpha them over each other...

the pouring liquid deal would be too up there right now bill.

CanadianGuy
January 26th, 2004, 01:22 AM
Pouring liquid would be awesome. I 'll try making my pixels smaller and mix'em up with some blurs and stuff like you said PR.

Is making the pouing liquid a hard effect to do. I'm thinking I just got a new gel filter for PS that might do the trick.

gah, i just seen this effect on a site listed on these forums...no time to make it...

it looks like the image is being "downloaded" from the air.

Like it streams down sort of thing...

CanadianGuy

lol Ethan

I made this pic today and I was thinking of integrating it into the power up effect.

Any ideas Soulty/ Phil

O yea, if you didn't know the above picture is of a bottle of nitrious

I like the way the base oscillates. How could this effect look natural? lol. Do you have an actual teleport? Were you drinking last night?

I just got struck with an awesome idea! Here it is tell me what you think of the idea.

Okay, here it is: what if I made a knob (like a radio tuner) that you turn, with low, med, and high labels and for each setting the osicillating will increase or decrease (depending on which setting) as well as the laser beam cylinder thingy. I'm also thinking that the sounds will increase or decrease depending on the knobs settings.

Does this make sense?

BTw the smaller the pixel pics are the larger te file size is and I still have like 4 more car pics showing different angles.

teleport shakes too long lol
