Hey guys :)

I've been having this weird problem. It's quite a long story actually, but it comes down to the fact that after I've transferred some files from a seriously f*cked up computer to a perfectly working, stable as a rock other machine, the screen went black after I logged in to the machine the files were transferred to. It was really weird.

The screen went black when the logon was complete: the desktop loaded, all the programs loaded, and then it went black. After 10 minutes, the screen would return, but the computer hangs and the mouse is gone. So I figured: maybe it's some program's fault that loads when loging on, so I intended to load in Safe Mode, and turn all optional programs off that load when you logon to windows using msconfig.

But I couldn't access the Safe Mode on the new comptuer because I forgot the key to make the boot menu appear, and the most common keys (CTRL, F1, F10, DEL, ...) didn't work. So I went to bootdisk.com to get a boot disk for Win98. Meanwhile, the computer was rebooting. So I create the disk, and while it's being created, I go to have a look at the other computer, and all the sudden, it works again. Just like that. I was like: WTF !? :P

So I quickly shut down all programs, stopped the programs from loading using msconfig, ran a virus scan, and what do you know ? A virus. TalkStocks.F it's called. This virus came with the file transfer, since I checked before I transferred.

If this would ever happen to you, know this is a virus.

Maybe I should start the "Voetsjoeba's computer stories", like "Alex's car stories" ...

Hehe, the problem is the old computer had kids using it, and if they'd lose their files, they'd kill me. Besides, I lost my drivers :P

The solution:

It's Windows, you probably won't be able to recover it. That would be the Black Screen of Death in all new EES Viruses.

Oh, next time that happens don't ever shut down programs, disconnect your ethernet cord ASAP.
