I cant figure out how to bring my maya creations into flash.
Anyone know what program if any I need to convert this?
I do know that I can take it into photoshop, but I need to keep the animation.

what version of maya are you using? The newest version(s) have a vector renderer built in (Look in your render globals)
If you have an older version there are a few methods, such as bringing the bitmaps into flash and tracing them by hand or using 'trace bitmap.' (frame by frame)
There are other ways as well such as going through 3rd party programs to convert your 3d object into vectors. It mostly depends on what you have available.

what type of video extension are you having maya output to?
How long is the animation?
How big is it?

S blaze need to know more about your file you have produced from maya to understand how to fix your problem. did you render the animation out a a single video or multiple image files? what does the render involve? wireframe or shaded?
soon as you can come back with some answers to the above questions as well. the sooner we will be ble to help you.

well thank you for the .swf vector info, i've managed to get it to save as a .swf but the quality is alful. it doesnt retain the 3dness
of the maya environment. is there a value i am forgetting to change?
Thanks guys

well, I was never that impressed with the quality of its vector renderer. Play with the settings a bit though. I don't have maya on my laptop, so I can't look right now but you should have a bunch of settings for the way it renders the image under the vector render specific settings in the render globals.
You can do things like up the number of color levels it uses for shading, etc. These all come at the cost of a larger file size, though - which can get surprisingly big for vector files. And they usually still need to be cleaned up in flash. :(
Still, you can probably get usable results - but it depends on what your goal is. If you want it to look top quality like a normal render - which I think you might - you are going to have to just use an image sequence or video. Or if you need to be able to manipulate it in 3d then a 3rd party plug-in, instead of Flash, will be your answer. At this point, 3d and flash don't play all that well together. :(
Any more questions, I'm happy to help (if I can ;))

if you are lookin to capture the detail maya provides you with, why are you trying to render it out as swf? why not just render it out as a .mov or .avi or a sequence of png (preserve alpha) then import that into flash? i still dont quite understand the nature of your file.?? ... how long?, what material ? is it suppose to be vector?
