First day of class has come and gone ... and I have homework already!

If anyone has read Pied Beauty by Gerard Hopkins, and has any ideas about it - I'd appreciate it much if you gave me some insight into it.

Also ... I plan on coming out with a new personal website :)

I'm going to have to post it up in the Site Check forum when I get crackin on that for some input.

Well it's back to the books for me, so I can be a nice, well-rounded student so I can get a job in the coming years :tie:

Cheers Kirupians ... make well in my stead whilst I'm gone!

First day of school I got like 4 hours of homework (usually 5)

So I was happy!

Just so happens that I have ALL the teachers that give out the most homework in their subject.

I feel your pain BadMagick.

I've already gotten Stats, Organic Chemistry, Linear Algebra, and Genetics homework to do...and it's only been 2 days! Granted, it's mostly reading assignments but it still takes time.

lol...a h.w. is indeed a good remedy!
I'll be finishing up undergrad and will have to work for 2-3 years before I go for my MBA.

That is a good combination rere420....flash guy (assuming you are) by night, lawyer by day. :D

i'm going back on the start of feb... i'm curretnly working as an intern in a company.

intern?... do you get credit for school?

I had intern....there was 2 options. One, get the paid one but no credit towards my degree. Two, get the nonpaid one and get credit towards my degree.

*Of course I chose the paid one. :D

i think mine is both ways... i'm an intern at the company with pay as well as credit for school. :)

and u're smart to choose the paid one :)
schools and attachment companies always treat us students as free labour :( poor us

that is a good deal!

Keep up the good work. I definitely benefited from my internship.
I was offered a full-time job after I graduate. So, I will start this coming summer.

Unlike many of my friends, I don't have to worry about looking for a job. ;)

Pied beauty by GMH (jee i've got this dude on my poetry exam this year, his poems are excellent:

Curtal sonnet: look for this over the internet (i think it's because the quartet has got a fifth line "Praise him."

This is a praise to god for the beauty of the world, especially dappled things ie: "skies of couple colors","brinded cow","rose-moles"

Line5: Landscapped plotted....plough" is an illustration of that, he cuts up piece of the sentence to make it look like its dappled

quartet: has some rhythm (very important in GMH, who did something called 'sprung' rythm because not iambic - 'teedam teedam teedam'): "whatever is frickled, freckled (who knows how)" (which means btw that hopkins believes ha cannot grasp the entire beauty of it, it is grand)
The alliterations in "swift; slow; sweet; sour; addazle dim" (first s's and the d's"" give it some taste, first sugary (s's are softe) and then sour (d's are a bit harder) once again illustrating the dapple-ness (?) of the world
Last two sentences; as in almost all of hopkins poems there has to be this love of god (he was a jesuite priest) the "fathers-forth" is very paternal and warm.. and "praise him" is a punchline, a shock, that echos to the first line "Glory be to god...."

There's loaaads more to say about it... just need to concentrate and feel the poem.... it rocks !

cheers,

thanx.

yea. that is also the benefit of an internship!

I was fortunate enough to get an internship I love. The work and the environment is great.

I still keep in touch w/ my Mentor and former manager. They still give me advice and stuff....

(Interns were assigned Mentors and my mentor was my boss's boss. )*lol

Nope, I dont know a **** thing about flash or about being a guy!...My undergrad degree is a B.S. in criminology and my masters will be in criminal justice systems.

Thats why I want the break.. I am doing my masters in one year (doubling on all credit courses) while working full time....this year has been absolutely nutz!:beam:

The Christmas Break was waaaaaay too short. I'm only taking one class though - it's not killing me too much :) Next time, I'll be certain to read the fine print and make sure that none of my classes extend into the optional month of January (semester starts only in Feb.)

I started two weeks ago, and I'm already as tired as I was at the end of last term.

*faints* ;P

I don't have any computer courses for the first time in my collegiate career!

I'm REALLY going to have to study this semester if I'm going to think about getting good grades. Usually the one or two IST or CompSc classes were enough to keep my head above a 3.3 GPA (needed for entrance into my major).

I hope to make the Dean's List again this semester. I think I can if I try - my classes don't seem all that boring...

So far! :)
