Anyone have any idea why when I set my FSB from 100 to 133 it won't let my monitor work? I'm running a Athlon XP 2000, and thought at first it was my Video Card (which was an old VooDoo 3.5), so I replaced it with a GeForce 4, which didn't help. Then I thought it was my power-supply, so I replaced it with a much more powerful supply, and can't figure out what's going on. My processor is only running at 1.2 ghz, when it SHOULD be running at 2 ghz, once my FSB is set right, according to AMD.
My motherboard OEM says "Just take the Jumper off point X, and then power the machine back up to get the FSB up to 133"... Anyone seen this before? Please help!

If it's an Athlon processor, it shouldn't be running at 2ghz.
AMD use other techniques to get the processor speed up to the rough equivalent of 2ghz ;)

An FSB jump from 100Mhz to 133Mhz is quite a leap. What is happening is your motherboard is overclocked too much so it just fails to work. Your monitor is working fine, it's your computer that's not booting up. Instead of going all the way up to 133, go up in increments first to see the tolerance of your motherboard/CPU. Go to 105 and see if it'll boot, then 110, etc. You can also try tweaking your CPU multiplier. I'm guessing it's set at about 12x right now. Try raising that alongside the FSB.
And btw, just because it's called an Athlon XP 2000, doesn't mean your speed will be 2000Mhz. I have a 2600+ and I can only max out at about 2.08Ghz.

Thanks for the help.... I'm not very hardware Savvy, I'm more a Software person. The thing that is strange to me is that my Motherboard has a jumper: "FSB Selector", which, when in place, has my FSB at 100, when removed, it's set to 133. Both AMD and my MotherBoard OEM say it should be set to 133 for my processor to run correctly. I don't know anything about OverClocking, so I haven't messed with any of the other switches/jumpers on my Board.... so I don't know what I'm supposed to do...

Try changing all those settings from the BIOS. It's usually more user-friendly ;)

My Bios has no FSB settings. Which is bizzare. I had called my Motherboard OEM, and they're the ones that told me about the Jumper.

what kind of motherboard do you have?
I think an athlon xp 2000 is supposed to run at about 1.6ghz, so something is off somewhere. If your BIOS is anything like mine, you'll have to change a few things to user-defined before you can get to fsb and multiplier settings.
also, try looking around on some overclocking forums. There are quite a few out there and chances are someone has a similar system as you

Is your RAM PC-133? If not there is your problem... =)
Cheers!
