Hey Dan,
Thanks! I got a lot of help from thoriphes and suprabeemer from the ActionScript forum. It is really not that difficult. I have all of the background images (vectorized) in Flash and stored as a separate movie. For example movie1, movie2, movie3,...,movie11.swf. I just randomly load one from whatever number happens to randomly come up.
