With wistles I bet. Couldn't play the movie but I bet he used wistles. But that'd mean he completed 2 worlds in 11 minutes. That's a minimum of 14 levels. 47 seconds per level AND 4 of them are scrolling levels... Cheat

... But noone can beat my ghost on the 7th level in super mario bros deluxe time trial. Ran left to right without stopping once. Can't remember what time I got though (possibly 362 but I can't remember)

Holy hell.
That was sick. I only watched for about two minutes but I was in awe over the players ability to know precisely when and where to jump in every level to basicall never touch the ground and friggin fly through them.

That is the most amazing thing i have ever seen done in a video game. THe fact he knows exactly where to jump every time. He picks up like 85 lives going threw the tank and the ship on world 8. Never have i seen game play like that.

I tell you - that's one Christmas I will never forget... getting the NES was amazing!
We were one of the last kids in our neighbourhood to get it because the single mom / no cash combo - but when we did it was honestly the best Christmas ever. I was so happy :)
My bro and I had to go to my grandpartents right after opening gifts because my mom worked on christmas day and then would come over for the family dinner when she was done. I brought the manual with me for the system and the games that came with it and drew pictures of it all day.... hahahaha :)
Funny how some memories just stick out in your head. I can see it like it was yesterday!

I remember getting mine second-hand. I was the happiest kid alive. Some of the games I had were Mario's 1 and 3, Contra, the original Rygar, Track and Field, Excitebike(!), and some others. I also have Duckhunt and that gun you use for it. I'm bringing it back down to college with me. :)
anyone remember having to blow on the cartridges to get them working? (-:

Yeah they are awesome. I love my snes, it's the best thing ever. I have gamecube, ps2, pc, and snes.. and snes is by far the best system ever. I love it like it's my child.

Wowee what gets me is how he passes through those sublevels in level 8 where the hand grabs you down. I dunno how he was able to skip all those without worrying about getting dragged down.
Right now i'm working on a record time for beating Mario 1.

it would be hard for me to believe that he didn't try multiple levels more than once and then just edit the best runs together.. for him to not make one mistake the entire time seems fairly impossible. And it doesn't make it any less amazing to me.

Well even if he did do that, having the runs that he does have are amazing.
The one level where he (she?) baggs like 70 lives in one level was just incredible.

Now for all you Metroid Prime (GC) players out there, this person beat the game with 100% in under 2 hours. Watch the movies, they're also amazing.

I never new you could use two wistles to get to world eight from world one. And I was right. They DID use wistles. Amazing how they grab a raccoon leaf at full speed so they can fly straight away. And I like the way they duck on the third level's white platform for the exact amount of time it takes for the background swap thing to occur. I also like the fact that they used the nes version instead of the snes or GBA update.

I either figured this out, or was shown by a friend back in the day, but I knew it could be done... quite clever short cut though, most people think you have to get the whistle in the second zone along with the first two to get to the 8th zone.

What about the fastest time completing ALL the levels. Someone had to do it. They didn't add 6 worlds between 1 and 8 just to make the wistles worth collecting.

Well it the end of the movie it says: "Played by morimoto" so I guess that's either his nickname or his real name... as far as I know it doesn't mean anything in Japanese...

Way to uncover the truth man! I thought it was fake myself ...
I must say though, a part of me wanted it to be true. I wanted to believe, that somewhere out there, there was someone who could do that. Someone who wasted away countless hours of their lives to perfect one of the greatest games in history. That somewhere out there was a true hero of the gaming world. A man who would be lifted up above all as THE MAN....
But I guess it was all just me getting my hopes up
junahu

The fact he went through all that trouble frame by frame is even more amazing. And actually calculating the best way to go through a level would have been excrutiatingly laborious. I don't think he's all that much a phoney since he saved potential record breakers the issue of having to figure out how to get through the game best.
... though catching a leaf and flying instantaneously with it looked impossible to me...

Why doesn't he get all three end of the level stars... instead it looks like he goofs up and gets a mushroom or something instead? ... maybe to save time? Looks like a mistake though.

If you get 3 matching icons it goes into that big fireworks sequance that takes like 30 secs to get threw and you can't skip it. It is most definatly a time saving move.
