The trick is to first make a square extrusion starting at 0,0 points and going to the first thick line in the editor. That is where the bitmap will extend to later when you apply it!
Now make your material and MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE SCALE RADIO BUTTON - dont touch the slider control - JUST TICK THE SCALE BOX !!!!!!!!!!!. Got it????? .... excuse the bluntness, but I have said this time and time again and I just cant get the people asking these questions to tick that box and NOT move the slider.
Now drag and drop the newly created material onto the face of the extrusion. Now SCALE the box into the rectangular shape you need. Dont size - SCALE.
Two things happen when you do it like this. 1. the image fits perfectly everytime and 2 scaling keeps the bitmap lined up - sizing will stuff it up.
Do not adjust the extruded square until after you apply the material.

Hope Nitro answered your question. You still failed to mention what software you are using or what planet you are from :P
