Playback optimization- cool animation; too choppy

can anyone tell me what to do to make my files play back smoothly? i've read countless articles on file size optimization; how about some info on processor optimization ...or is it basically the same stuff? what should i look out for? how bad are alpha fades, bitmaps, masks, gradients, etc... and how do the pros get away with it and still get some crisp results? any links or tips would be greatly appreciated.

if it isn't to complex try uping the frames per second from 12 to 18 or 20.

Try that, it should help to smooth out the clip also make the clip longer by extending the frames some.
