View Full Version : What are you greedy little buggers asking for?

I know it's early, but I was just wondering what you guys / gals were going to be asking for this Christmas. I realize not everyone has someone to buy things for or recieve gifts or maybe even belive in Christams, but in that case - what are you going to buy yourself :)
Myself, I am asking for a couple video games and maybe a few articles of clothing and a flash book and that's about it.
What I MAY be giving is a "special" question to the (hopfully) future "Mrs Tuknuk" but I havent completly decided yet :)
So....?

Sounds like some great things!
Fester - I too am going to ask for Rainbow 6 along with Crimson Skies and Ninja Gaiden. I dont care what ones I get as long as I get ONE! Do you have Xbox Live? if so we will have play sometime dude. I have Links 2004 and ESPN Basketball that are Live enabled. If you have either let me know - that goes for you too DIpi and anyone else with Xbox Live.
My Gamer Tag is "Krazy Canadian"
Philbo - That's a great idea but last time I had one of those, I left it on and lost an entire wing of the igloo! ;)
Thats friggin awesome man. If you do I hope it all goes well. Thanks man - I know the answer, I am pretty sure of that, the only problem I have is getting the funds together for a nice ring. I have a hook up with a Wholesaler so that's good news but still going to be expensive!

thats okay you'll have a life time to pay it off. She doesnt expect it at all does she?
How would you do it????
Just a suggestion but, you could put a small box inside of a few different boxes that are bigger but, dont actually put the ring in there. Keep the ring in your pocket and get on your knee and take it out while she is going through trying to find whats in the boxes....
not like I being a girl I have thought about this or anything:) I could probably come up with ten thousands good ways:love:

Thanks for the suggestion Marie - that's a great one, but I have another ;)
here are the plans, let me know what you think....
Since we have video capabilites here are work, I am going to make a movie trailor. At the begning I am going to have quotes come in like "beautiful" or "breathtaking" with various sources under each of them. All of this is going to be with some sappy music she likes playing in the background. Then there is going to be a bit of a build up and then BAM a pic of me looking all stupid. That picture is going to shake and disapear and then a very nice one of her is going to materialize in a cool way. I am then going to have interviews from our friends to follow talking about her or the both of us, but they dont know what for, they will think it's just a christmas present. Then I am going to take some video of special places to us and stand infront of a green screen and talk to the video behind me... it's going to be awesome! Then I am going to say "the guy beside you has something to say" then I will get down on one knee and ask. All this while our friends and family are there. I am going to discise the party as a christmas party - but it will really be an ingament party ;)
And this movie trailor will play AFTER a real one does... so NO one in the room will know what's going on except for like my one friend who is helping me set it all up. What do you think?

Advice:
Don't ask her in front of friends. Not cool or romantic.
Make it private, and special, just for her. It will be her day, her way, for her all the way, so make the proposal just as special, not funny, quirky, or uniquely unique...
If you want to do the video, cool, but I sincerely suggest you not watch it first in front of all your friends...
Just my advice.

Hmm - interesting thought.
Personally I think it's very "cool" and "romantic" but to each their own right?
We were sitting together watching some talk show one day and there was a segment on Proposals. Some were very quiet and personal, as you have described, and others were in front of thousands of people. She remarked to me that she thought it was "very sweet, and extreamly romantic" to have the balls to do it in front other people.
Now that was about a year and a half ago. I dont know if she was laying hints down or just saying how she felt but either way it has stuck with me. I think this is going to be a safe bet. It's not that I am worried about the answer at all, I could see how if there was some doubt a public thing wouldnt be fair - but in this case that's not really an option (at least I hope not! :) )
But again Rev, thanks and I appreciate the advice my man.
*edit* "balls to do it..." was paraphrasing ;)

Cool.
Every single woman I have ever had a relationship with, has said just the opposite. Could be the Eskimo thang...
Just remember, she will be telling this story for the rest of her life, so make sure it is perfect. Leave nothing to chance, if she hates any of your 'buds', make sure he is out of the building during this time.
Caution and preparedness are the catchwords for this plan...
and congrats... marriage changes a person. I don't exactly know why, but it does, and in a weird way. You are no longer 'one of the guys' in that same way... etc. And in a good way as well, I don't mean to sound morbid...
Just be prepared for your life to orbit around her needs while she plans the wedding. If you expect nothing from her, and expect to spend endless hours debating over mundane decisions, then you can't be disappointed...

Case modding is cool for sure. It's somthing I would really like to get into - I am not very "handy" but I think I could learn.
And Rev:
Thanks dude - not sound like a jerk, but you sound kind of soured on the whole marraige thing....? I see what you mean with a lot of what you are saying and I totally know my life will change, but it's a change I am ready for. I have 2 friends that are now married and I do see some chnages that have happend but honeslty - they are still "just one of the guys" in most cases.
I feel very luck with my girl - to me she is perfect. She doest EVER nag me, she understands If I need some "alone time", she likes to hang with her own friends as much as she does with mine to the point where they are all pretty much "our" friends now. She loves video games, movies, cooking - I think I have found the perfect wife....! :)
But again Rev, I hear you. I am going to try my hardest to make the whole thing very very special and honestly - I feel the engment thing isnt just about her, it's about the both of us. She has her day, the wedding. I know it could be argued that it's for the both of us as well but she has been dreaming about it for years I'm sure and she can have whatever she wants on that day. She is a great woman and I would give her the world. It may just be that I am on a high right now from the whole thing taking shape and I do thank you for keeping me grounded. Your opinon is a great thing to read.

I'm not soured Tuknuk, just been through it once.
I'm not saying it will be bad. It could be the greatest thing ever.
I'm also not against marriage. I would marry my g/f in a second, if it mattered to her.
I just wanted to be the voice of reason. Women have a drastic different view of what is important in a wedding, that is all. I didn't mean to make a judgement call on any of it.
and by 'one of the guys', I meant that now you are a married man, that itself, will make it a little different, not that you wouldn't still hang with your friends.
It sounds like you guys will be happy for a long time.

My Girl just got a new GBASP about 2 weeks ago and it's amazing! She traded in her old one (the GBA) and a couple games and picked it up. What a great investment - it's amazing. NO batteries to change, just charge like a cell phone, and the light - amazing! One thing I would reccomend is a Case for it. They can get scratched very easily. We picked one up for 20 bucks that came with a car charger, metal case and some headphones - awesome deal. I think it was by "mad Catz" I am not sure if they are in your part of the world or not though. Good luck! :thumb:

I think rere's got a point. Whether or not you propose in front of your friends, you're going to have to tell them one way or another. Proposing in front of all of them on Christmas day (if that was your plan) would just go to show how romantic you can be. ;)

You kids and your rich computers. In my opinion, there is no point to buy a computer over $5000. Sure it's an ectasy just to customize one, but say you bought it actually, would you actually need the 1 terabyte harddrive? I've been living off of my 20GB HD for about 5 years now and I've never manage to fill it completely. But then, if you are rich, then why the heck not. Make the economy better, waste as much of your money as you can.
