I'm having trouble with separating my interface components and then using those in flash. How do i separate them?

place them on separate layer. THen hide layer you dont want to see. Then export them as png24. You have to be aware of how you set up your layers to be successful.
do that for each layer or element

won't that include the canvas area when exporting it in png 24?

just hide the layers as diva suggested, crop the part you want, save as png, undo the crop again...
aaaand so forth :)

png 24 has all the benefits of a jpg (colors) and the benefits of a gif (transparency). Which is ideal for flash. If your canvas is transparent or you hide all layers you will get the transparency, just remember to turn off the matte for best results.

well in the save for web window.....you will see a square that says matte next to it. It usually defaults to white. Select none. If you are still having trouble press f1 and put "matte" in the search box.

Just a quick tip - If your designing with png files (or any other graphics file) that they'll distort if you intend them to rotate in flash. Any rotation animations with png's have to be done frame by frame with seperate files.
