my design...

I need some help trying to think up some possible ways to pesent the content in my layout that I have done...

The buttons I love and the design I love, I just need a cool looking way to present information in the general area there...

You can press the buttosn to see what I was coming up with.. But it kind-a sucked...

Thanks ahead of time.

Hey Marz, what happen to your other layout?? this is cool though, i suggest maybe breaking up the content panel into a section on the left (make font smaller) and have two or three smaller boxes (panels) to the right, or you could have a larger section on top and three smaller boxes on the bottom going from left to right.

Add some animations (actionscript fun) or some croped images maybe even have your logo animated differently in the three boxes.

Add some dynamics to your animations, a little bounce to the tranisitional animation you have in each section, play around with ease percentages for your tweens.

Maybe add some glow to the circle (gem looking thing) as it loads up a new section.

Mouse over effects on the nav menu maybe..
Maybe some croped photo images ?

That should get you started. hope i could help you dude.

;)

i checked out the link, the changes are better, none of the links works so i cant see the transitions. looking better though.

Cool deal.

Yeah.. I dropped the links.. And the profile and the contact page will be done much like the main page.

The portfolio page will be different due to the need for a different type of information and data passing through :)

ah , ok, you might want to add some dynamics to your animation, everything feels a little clunky, if u get what i mean, add some ease to your tweens, get it lookin smooth and interesting.

And your logo might be a touch too strong in the background, because my eyes seem to not want to read the text and look at the titles and the logo in the background.

Post when you get the tranisitions done.

:)

Aye... Okay mate.. I getcha...

As for tweens... COme on.. I'm not a designer.. I used programming to do all the movement and alpha fading my good friend.. *lmao*....

A little clunky as in.. They don't move that smoothly... ? Because I can change the framerate and the moving amounts if that will help out some?

lol... ok , i'll give you a break hehe...

What i meant about clunky is the way you have animated objects in , they just seems clunky in the way they move because they seem solid.

Even if you jump the frame rate up (which you should do), have the graphics do a little more, maybe a scale and position tween. like have the ? start a little smaller and then scale and move it to the left, with a little speed and then slowing down, But since your using AS then maybe might be a bit harder. But you should be able to handle it ;)

I think the layout is cool, but I'd make it brighter... The colours are kinda... I dunno, not dull, but they don't stand out as much as they perhaps could? Just my two pence worth. :)

cool layout but the low res/quailty pictures are killing it's look. If they are high quality, then I suggest turning off "compress" when you export, or dialing up the quality of exported .jpeg in the publish menu (ctrl+shift+p - I think). Also, I would generally recomend making your tweens a little bit shorter. Anyway, Looks great! Love the buttons!

You designers just don't listen do you? (-:

*lol*.. I did not use tweeeeeennsss.. I HATE tweeeeeennnss.. They do nothing but piss me off and waste my time.. So.. Everything that is shown is done with ActionScript.. *lol* Just kidding with ya'all.. :D

Thanks though.. Lemme see..

Soul : I gte what you mean now.. But really.. What? Like I stated, when it comes to creative design anymore I've been lacking i9n some areas... :) Throw me some ideas on how the logo should pop up or anything and I'll see what I can do :D

Kit : Was kind-a going for a more mediocre and laidback feel.. Kind-a like the general area around here that views it.. :) The colors you say? Hmm.. I'd have to almost reruote the entire layout.. if it seems like the colors are a huge issue I'll check into them.. Thanks tho :D

Copper copper copper... Oig.. I didn't use tweens btw ;) *lol* The only reason they aren't in higher quality is this site has to be built for the general area that views it.. Generally around 60-70% of the people around my area still are using dial up.. So until that changes, I kind-a have to watch out for their tastes too.. :)

Thanks you three though.. I really appreaciate the comments and I'll be looking into some of the things you guys mentioned. :)

add stars, glitter, lots of fast moving things, colors. THATS what people want...

And enhance the mettaly looking interface; get a new antialias on those borders and add a small shadow behind it...

heres what im trying to show you:

(on second thoughts that yellow thingy does look like too much =))

Seems rather dark though... KInd-a evil :-| *lol*

And.. unless I'm going color blind (which some say I am at times).. Your's has "less" color than mine.. It's just more metally looking..

But like I stated, I'm not the real designing magistrate.. hehe..

The orange dot.. I dunno what I'm even going to do with that... *lol*.. Luckily I created the images so that I can easily import them.. The buttons are handled by flash so.. :)..

I'll see what I can do.. But I dunno... :)

Yeah im sorry 'bout the colors was just an idea an the quick thing I made did not go that way.. what I really felt with your design was it was too static, needed to liven'up either with colors or movement..

oh and designing buttons in flash can be really good graphically (same effect that I have on my pic) just be sure to use the right gradients...

Yeah... That's my whole problem mate.. *lmao*...

See.. Programming wise I can code hundreds of lines like it was nothing.. But when it comes to designing I cross examine everything I do until I wind up in a huuugggeee circle.. *lol*..

Presents problems...

Anyways.. In photoshop 7.. Where is the antialias feature.. I was checking all around for that **** thing and I just can't figure it out.

You wouldnt be talking to me, would you? lol, i know your using AS, i said that in my last post, but anyway, you can ease your movement in X and Y coordinates in Actionscript, i m sure you can.

But anyway, to answer your question, what can you do to make the movement less "clunky" as i called it....hmmm...

add some scalling ... xscale / yscale (thats right the AS way isent it :P )
the titles seem a bit too big and the font need to be changed.
Ill create a quick rough to show you what i mean. Maybe create a fla to show the kinda movement i mean (i will do it in tweens and im sure you can copy that to your coding brain to write it in AS .. lol :P)

give me a few hours when i have a chance. ;)
talk to ya then. Peace..

here is a layout draft that might help you create a layout.
I dont mind if you use it, but thats totally up to you.

I decided that the title was ok, when segmented into section like i did in the jpeg although i fix the positioning of it, and the boxes on the left are the concept i told you about before, how you could have some of your particle effect playin in these panels or just random animation of your logo.

As for the logo animating in, why dont you use some of the coding to bring in your logo, maybe a diagonal fade-in made of particles, like particles comes flying in making(building) your logo, something like that, just make it a bit more interesting, i know you are good at AS so you can make something fancy.

I added a gradient background (you could have a solid colour if you want, just something to lighten the site, open it up)and added some more colour to section to give it a bit more life. i added a glow to the circle thing in the middle, idea behind this is you can make it glow when its animating a section in, and i added a glow to a button to show you what you could have as a mouse over.

Hope this is enough to help you. ;)

I know I came in on the tail end of this whole thing but just want to drop my .02. Marz I think you may have to use some tweens if you want to jazz up the animation. But then again you may be able to pull it off with some AS. Also the interface concept is cool...But I think the layout looks like one big filter. DId you use a filter to create the metallicy plasticy effect? But it is not all that bad it just stands out to me. If you did you may want to look at one of the vid x or robo uk interface tuts. The buttons are a lil big but that is okay also. Pretty cool start, with Soulty helping ya you should all good.....good luck and let me know if there is something I can do to help ya.
