How to find out if Flash player is installed?

Hello, :)
Can anybody let me know, what must I insert in my WEB page's HTML source to determine if the browser has Flash player plug-in installed?
I found out recently, that if the browser is IE 5, and Flash is not installed, it does not start automatically downloading and installing the player.
So I if it is possible to know whether the player is not installed, I will start an alternative (to the flash part of my site).
